PARIS (Reuters) - Italy on Saturday said “arrogant” France risked becoming its “No.1 enemy” on migration issues, a day before European leaders convene in Brussels for a hastily arranged meeting on the divisive topic.
In answer to comments by French President Emmanuel Macron, who said migration flows toward Europe had reduced compared with a few years ago, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio said Macron’s words showed he was out of touch.
“Italy indeed faces a migration emergency and it’s partly because France keeps pushing back people at the border. Macron risks making his country Italy’s No.1 enemy on this emergency,” Di Maio wrote on his Facebook page.
Macron said European cooperation had managed to cut migration flows by close to 80 percent and problems stemmed from “secondary” movements of migrants within Europe.
“A country like Italy has not at all the same migratory pressure as last year. ... The crisis we are experiencing today in Europe is a political crisis.”
But Italy’s Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini said his country had faced 650,000 arrivals by sea over the past four years, 430,000 asylum requests and the hosting of 170,000 “alleged refugees” for an overall cost of more than 5 billion euros ($5.8 billion).
“If for the arrogant President Macron this is not a problem, we invite him to stop insulting and to show instead some concrete generosity by opening up France’s many ports and letting children, men and women through at Ventimiglia,” he said in a statement, referring to the northeastern Italian town at the border with France.

All EU fake leaders are unelected and CHILDLESS. They are pre-selected by their elites to war on their own nations through mass migration.
The European uprising must ally and attack the elites, identify them, attack them militarily, imprison them, and execute them.

They both should quit seeing each other as the problem, and blame three items: Merkel, Soros and the Schengen Agreement.
The Schengen Agreement not only gave passport and visda free passage within the EU to citizens of any and all EU countries, it also made a fatal flaw. It did not qualify that that passport and visa free passage was only for the EU states’ citizens. It also means that all anyone in the world has to do is land on the soil of any EU state, and they too can pass visa and passport free across those states borders. The Schengen Agreement was a flag to the Middle East and North Africa - Europe is open without restrictions, if you can just set foot there.
The Schengen Agreement INVITED the current migrant crisis.
The correction the EU needs to make is to still require EU citizens to use a passport to freely travel across the EU states’ borders - no visa, juts a passport, and leaving it to each EU states for whom it is, from outside the EU, that they will also require a visa.
Turkey could not pass migrants from Turkey to a EU state from whom the migrant did not obtain a visa. A non-EU migrant in Italy would need a visa from France to pass into France.
The eveyone would tell the EU to keep its nose out of how many migrants it accepts, and each would set its own quotas and work-immirgrants and “asylum seekers”.
But that’s not what the EU got. It got Schengen, Soros and Merkel.
Wake up France and Italy, you are both being played.
