So all that “American iron”, “American tradition”, etc is just BS. HD is just another rice burner to me now.
HD is pandering now and flipping the finger to the people who brought them to the party.
Take a look at their new Harley Davidson intern video to see what they have become. You’ll want a barf bag.

Guess HD wants the relive AMF days. They should also read up on New Coke.

Also, HD wouldn’t even exist without tariffs from Reagan.
And no, they didn’t make this move offshore because of the tariffs. They were doing the typical cheap labor offshore MBA crap and had it already planned. This was just an excuse.

I hope all the HD management gets their bikes ripped off.

It’s all about cheap labor and
HD’s bottom line. HD should ride
the Trump wave and see where it
takes them. Moving their
operations back to the US might
just be the better deal.

Some overseas plants may be necessary. But I sure hope it will remain possible to buy good Harley’s made in USA from mostly USA parts. Many barley owners buy Harley’s because they’ve been American products. There’s a considerable patriotism purchasing market for Harleys. If the larger more iconic models especially stop being USA products you can safely predict a substantial drop in demand

At least most rice burners have modern engineering and performance.

"Styling" does not need that of course. Appearance is everything.

Reported on the Dutch news was a short message HD was moving to outside of the USA because of the tarrifs. Of course, they already did years ago but of course, Trump is the bad one.

not to mention they’ve had a drop in sales for 4 years in a row.

But honestly, HD is the status symbol of bikes. Does anyone think that a uber-rich Chinese or Russian or Ukrainian or Frenchman is going to blink at an extra $2000 on the price tag? It’s all about marketing, my FRiends. Let’s not forget the lesson taught by the $68 hotdog water vendor.

Meh, have a bike and it is NOT a Harley...will not ever buy a Harley and this just solidifies my decision.

Correct. I am retired in Southeast Asia but originally a Cheesehead. The Wisconsin CBS affiliate who made this a national issue is in Madison WI, a hotbed of "progressive politics" for decades.

Harley moved production facilities into ASEAN countries to duck the 50% import tax years ago. They have been a bit wobbly as a company for a while now, but this was a move made with planning, years in the making, to try to maintain some semblance of market share, not some action which was as a response to the current tariff issue.

You have just been snukered one more time by the liberal media with this story. But we should all be accustomed to that, yes?

A Harley is an icon. It manages to imitate a bike too. It’s a bucket of bolts that aspired to be more badass than anything holy.

Kansas City plant is shutting down. Harley Davidson dealers in Kansas city are shutting down. The new generations play video games rather than ride motorcycles.

I have seen a dozen German articles....all saying this ‘suddenly occurred. This was was planned out since 2010. Some of this went hand in hand with health care costs.

To me, HD is like the State of Vermont, it causes cognitive dissonance. Are HD people conservative or Liberal or does it matter? Or if I choose HD did I enter into a realm where I can be free and and safe to express myself and not be shamed or shunned? Are you a gun carrying freedom loving bike rider who wants freedom but lives in Vermont and Wisconsin? I was in the Army Reserves with a veitnam vet Airedale who became a state trooper and was also a HD nut. Law by day freedom on bike riding weekends.

To me HD sucks, their bikes are crap and they are an overrated POS

I have ridden many years and a good number of bikes. IMHO, Harleys are too big, too slow, too expensive and handle like shit. If your thing is to ride the slab from bar to bar, blip your throttle a lot and make noise in the process, it’s probably the ride you want. If, however, you also want to get off into the grass, dirt, gravel and woods; a lighter, more powerful dual-sport is the way to go. There’s far more to the riding life than cruising down some highway or paved road trying to look like a pirate or rolling HD billboard.
