Someone help me out here...

What if the Legislature decided to simply ignore the state Supreme Court?

What type of enforcement mechanism would the court have to get the Legislature to comply?

The legislative branch is intended to be the most powerful branch at any level. Yes, there are checks and balances, but the legislative is the MOST responsive to the people and thus the most democratic. There is absolutely no mechanism that would allow the state Supreme Court to impose this other than making the legislative branch feel guilty about the courts opinion. I suppose if you had enough Left-wing press pounding legislators night and day about defying the judicial branch, they might chicken out and pass a tax/spending bill.

On the other hand, if the legislative branch really wants to get nasty (and has the political unity to do so), it can really mess with the judicial branch in so many ways. Hell, it can castrate the executive branch pretty well too if it wishes.
