Good day on my end, lovely weather.

Oooooooh, how I envy your lovely weather. It’s pretty rough down here - - HOT and really humid, but at least we’ve been getting some rain for the crops. Some “light shows” too. LOL! But a little break from all of it would be nice.
It was a fun day at the museum. Bob Redfern is the guy who does these shows and he’s a cool fella. It was just him and his cameraman and they went around with a couple of the guys as they explained what some if the items are. After they were finished I asked if they’d enjoyed the place and both gave an emphatic “yes”.
While they did their thing I dealt with a few people who showed up to see the museum and took pix in between. Getting those edited now.

I will be sure to do that. I’m picking out what I want to post and putting them into Fotki now. They’ll be waiting for you tomorrow since I know you have to go to bed early tonight. I’m surprised you’re still up now. LOL

Darn. I wish I'd been a little quicker with the editing and all so you could see at least a couple tonight, PRO. Oh well, they'll be here when you get a chance to check in tomorrow.
I mostly got pix of displays in cases today but got a couple here and there of vehicles. This Jeep ambulance is a new item, just brought in last weekend.
I was told that only 1,800 of these were made and once they weren't using them any more, many were destroyed and it really isn't known how many still exist. The museum owns two of them. The other hasn't been restored as nicely as this one yet.

I've taken a shot of this before but don't know if I posted it. The mannequin wasn't in the seat in the first pic so it doesn't matter. LOL! They're slowly "fleshing out" some of the displays and it makes them a little more interesting.

Wow! What a rare find that is and the restoration is amazingly good! Those guys really know what they’re doing.
Hope you had good weather for the trek there and for the visit with History Channel. Were there many visitors are was it closed to the public?
It was pretty hot here....but it’s all relative. 97 isn’t 107. LOL!

I don't know who did the restoration but it's a beauty. It isn't the rarest piece though. They have four Prototype Lightweight Jeeps that were built for the 1943 Glider Program and they're each the only ones built. They scrapped the Glider Program. These four Jeeps are what blew Bob and his cameraman away the most.

I concentrated on display cases more than anything today. Just so much cool small stuff in them. Some didn't turn out too well due to the overhead lights reflecting on the glass but there are still several that did turn out.

I honestly don’t know but they were designed to be carried into Europe by gliders. Maybe they weren’t sturdy enough for their jobs once they were on the ground and that’s why the whole idea was scrapped.
I have a LOT to learn about the items in there. The little I’ve learned is just from overhearing the guys when they’re taking someone through on a guided tour.
