Minnesota-based Polaris acknowledged on Friday that it is considering moving some production of its Indian Motorcycles overseas amid concerns over new tariffs from Europe.
A spokeswoman for the company told The Associated Press that it could move some of its production to Poland from Iowa, but noted that "nothing is definitive."
"We're looking at a range of mitigation plans," the spokeswoman, Jess Rogers, told the AP. Polaris did not immediately respond to The Hill's request for comment.

The panic is premature > IMO.
Should they be building contingency plans? I’m not against that.
I’m not against them moving some of their production to Europe either. If they want to manufacture what they sell there in Europe, that’s no different than European companies coming here to manufacture what they sell here.
This seems healthy to me.
The problem I have had with companies, is moving all production overseas for goods they plan to sell here.
I don’t care for that at all.

About the only thing Polaris or Harley does in America is assemble some of their products. “Final assembly” in order to get around import/export rules anyway.
Neither company produces much of their product components in the US as it is.

The EU has sound emission rules which means neither Polaris or Harley are big sellers overseas as it is.

Exactly! Too many don’t get it. Harley, and Indian are talking about production overseas for that market, NOT for sale in the USA.

How many European and Asian companies now build cars in the US? And for how long?
I wasn’t aware of that.
It seemed to me they might sell (particularly Harley) based on identity/image appeal.
Just in case, I did mean a solid or well put together bike.
Regardless, they are making a mistake.
The business slowdown due to tariffs will last only a very short while because Europe needs us more than we need them.
The President knows this. It is what he sees as the art of the deal.
When the tariff war ends, these manufactures will wish they had stayed home for many reasons.
Are you suggesting Harley Davidson corporation employees in the USA will not lose jobs if they build overseas? And will HD USA not profit from building bikes in foreign countries?

Agreed. Let the American brand grow.
At some point the value of the dollar rising too much can cut us out of foreign markets.
I’m all for a strong American workforce but workforce alone does not always equal good economics or lasting strength.
