Ocasio-Cortez responds to Dem senator who said policies 'too far to the left' don't win in Midwest

New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) responded to Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s (D-Ill.) claim that policies "too far to the left" can’t win in Midwestern states.

“With respect to the Senator, strong, clear advocacy for working class Americans isn’t just for the Bronx,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a tweet on Sunday.

Ocasio-Cortez, a democratic socialist and former organizer for Sen. Bernie Sander’s (I-Vt.) 2016 presidential campaign, pointed out that policies to the left of Hillary Clinton won in several Midwestern states.

Sanders won the Democratic primary in Michigan, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Indiana in 2016.

“We then lost several of those states in the general,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “What’s the plan to prevent a repeat?”

Ocasio-Cortez was responding to an interview Duckworth gave to CNN's Jake Tapper in which she a political platform that's “too far to the left” could ostracize voters in the Midwest.

The Hill has reached out to Duckworth’s office for comment.

Duckworth appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday to discuss Ocasio-Cortez’s stunning victory over incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley (D) in the primary for New York’s 14th congressional district.

Tapper asked Duckworth if the young candidate represents the future of the Democratic Party.

"I think it's the future of the party in the Bronx, where she is,” Duckworth said.

“I think that you can’t win the White House without the Midwest and I don’t think you can go too far to the left and still win the Midwest,” Duckworth said during the interview.

That’s right — vote Trump!

No, she refuses to give the proper definition of socialism because she knows that her scam will unravel if she does.

The left “respond”, the right “lashes out”. The Hill is guilty of normalizing the crazy socialist left.

I see a Paul Shanklin parody on the near horizon set to The Sound of Music's, "How do you solve a problem like Maria?"

How do you solve a problem like Alexandria?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is simply a younger version of the same old typical Democrat malignant narcissist virtue-signaling phony pseudo-intellectual D-bag politician.

What has she said or done that's new? What does she add to the conversation? What new strategy, or paradigm, or narrative, does she offer?

I'm sorry, I don't see much. I think she'll be forgotten and dismissed very quickly. She took the place of a strong left-wing Democrat, so there's no net gain here for her party.

I’d rephrase that....’Make America Venezuela’ (MAV).

People that live in urbanized areas (Baltimore, Atlanta, Detroit, etc) will go for Ocasio-Cortez and her gimmicks. Working-class Democrats? No.

I see the Democratic Party splitting off into two elements within five years. Bernie opened the Pandoras Box.

“With respect to the Senator, strong, clear advocacy for working class Americans isn’t just for the Bronx,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a tweet on Sunday.

That's true, but Duckworth was talking about liberal policies.

“strong, clear advocacy for working class Americans”

The key word in that phrase is “Americans” ... as in “citizens”, not just residents, legal or otherwise.

So exactly right, as you stated, “Vote Trump” to show your “
strong clear advocacy for working class AMERICANS”!

Aww, how precious; I mean, yeah, it’s a mere formality since the GOP only stuck somebody’s random name on the ballot who can’t even accept a campaign contribution since they didn’t bother filing FEC paperwork - so it’s just a matter of time until she’s a freshman congresswoman.

But the precious part is that it was Hillary’s gangs that re-registered Sander’s delegates there to be Republican so they couldn’t vote for their candidate, and she thinks she’s got the slightest advice aside from killing the Democrat corruption there.

Fix the corruption, eject Hillary’s pals, and MAYBE those might become swing states again after Trump’s terms are up.

Ocasio-Cortez vs. Duckworth... I put money on Ocasio-Cortez. She is right that Sanders won, Clinton and Dems like Duckworth cheated him and put Clinton on ticket to lose. They lose either way in my book. But, yes, get the popcorn out and watch the party address it’s moderate vs. liberal and progressive vs. it’s socialist and communist membership.
