SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The homeless encampments and drug addicts have become more visible to tourists, at times overshadowing the many landmarks that make San Francisco unique.
Groups that hold their conventions here continue to take notice.
"And it's not just groups but also a lot of individual travelers. We hear a lot from individual travelers that have come here and have had negative experiences on the streets and say they don't want to come back to San Francisco, said Joe D'Alessandro, President and CEO of the San Francisco Travel Association.

I also avoid the whole Bay Area, and absent a compelling reason, the entire once and former Golden State.

It is not just conventions. We live about four hours from San Francisco but travel there very infrequently. Which is a shame, it used to be nice, I was even stationed there in the Navy for a bit, lived in Berkeley briefly, then San Jose. But now, I cannot bring my gun for self-defense, the city is unsafe, it is filthy, horrible traffic, and no parking. Sad demise of a once great city.
So they all agree that they are against having streets and sidewalks full of feces and drug paraphernalia.
But while they don’t want the streets full of it, do they have the will to take action against it????
I’m pretty sure that D’Alessandro is Nancy Pelosi’s maiden name. I don’t know if she is related to this fellow.
There are many wealthy Italian-American families in the San Francisco area. Lots of old money.
