If they dusted off the early 20th century socialism of Eugene V. Debs, or the prairie populism of Robert La Follette or even the earlier Grainger movement, they might find some nuggets of rural collectivist wisdom. Farmers organizing for their common interests is nothing new although today’s agribusiness giants may have rendered that moot.
