An American company that ships cherries to a coastal province in southeast China recently encountered a new hurdle at the border: Customs officers ordered a load into quarantine for a week, so it spoiled and was sent back to the United States.
American pet food-makers, meanwhile, say they're facing more rigorous inspections at ports, which delay goods from reaching shelves and ultimately hurt sales.
And a U.S. manufacturer that exports vehicles to China recorded a 98% jump in random border inspections over the past month, throwing the firm behind schedule.
American business leaders fear these are the "qualitative measures" China warned it would unleash if President Trump imposed tariffs on its exports to the United States.

Build things in America again.
The actions they are talking about are NOT NEW! Its is part of what they have been doing all along to hinder U.S. trade. Of course you cant expect the WaPo to know complicated stuff like that, it might get in the way of their bias reporting, a.k.a. fake news.
I had a concierge in China. He found me the actual Chinese manufacturer of American goods so I buy direct at savings usually of 20 times less or better. A $100 item, maybe $4.
Why should I pay an American company $100 for an item when they are screwing Americans out of the jobs?? I can screw the company doing the screwing.
Please sell your pet food to us. American sourced pet food is hard to find and there is definitely a market for it.
So bring back American manufacturing.
For the entire last generation and a half, we have been exporting American factories.
It is time to rebuild our own country for a long, long overdue time of national rebuilding.
Stop buying everything imported.
(I know, but it really has gotten completely ridiculous)
I don’t think it will work.
Trump’s base is largely from agricultural areas.
Agriculture is completely fungible.
All these things were manufactured or grown in the U.S. This is our export market that his taking the hit.
Siding with gooks again you globalist witch. Did you burn a US flag yesterday?
And please, keep the damned unions out of it. They've done enough damage.
Unions are < 7% of the workforce and declining. That war is over and they lost.
I dunno. The Mrs works for the VA. She's not a member of the union there.
They are still more trouble than help to the organization. d:^)
If “Made in China” or Canada or Europe, or MEXICO ask:
Do I really need this item?
If not a necessity, don’t buy it. Either save your $$$ or BUY AMERICAN
Do the same with Amazon . . . do I really need this?
Also, do your travel and vacations in RED states if possible. So much of USA to see, so make the Blues and Commies & Socialists SEE RED
So NOW you know.
Thankya, sir! d:^)
Do the same thing to Chinese goods shipped here.
