DAVID FARIS OFFERS DEMOCRATS A PLAN FOR FIGHTING BACK
psmag.com ^ | 7/4/18 | Tom Jacobs

(Barf Alert) ---

(snip) -- The author and political scientist offers a traditionally timid party some bold ideas.

Democrats are despondent right now. Already in control of the White House and Congress, Republicans are poised to solidify their majority on the Supreme Court, and the Dems are powerless to prevent it.

What can they do? David Faris has many suggestions, but they boil down to an attitude: No more Mr. Nice Donkey.

Faris argues Democrats have been too passive and accepting of the fundamental unfairness of the American political system. He points to the undemocratic nature of the United States Senate, where one vote in a small state means so much more than one vote in a highly populous one. Or the fact that, in two recent elections—2000 and 2016—a Republican was elected president even though his Democratic opponent won a majority of the vote.

Democrats occasionally grouse about this decidedly tilted playing field, but they seldom express outrage—and when they assumed power in 2008, they did little to address the problem. Faris argues they cannot make that mistake again.

This article is very long, is written from a very demented lefty perspective, but it does serve to deeply illustrate how bent these people REALLY ARE.

The things this sack of manure, David Farris, suggests are bizarre and extremely dangerous.

From “Hey Democrats, Fighting Fair Is for Suckers”:

_____

“The endangered state of American liberal democracy, he (Faris) argues, calls for emergency steps from Democrats and the left. They should take advantage of legal and constitutional silences to “transform American politics in a lasting progressive direction,” Faris writes. “Doing so will require party leaders to pursue policy changes that will be ridiculed by their opponents as outrageous affronts to democratic decency and received by their own voters with puzzlement or even shock. They need to do it anyway.”

“The list of those changes is dizzying. Grant statehood to D.C. and Puerto Rico, and break California in seven, with the goal of adding 16 new Democrats to the Senate. Expand the Supreme Court and the federal courts, packing them with liberal judges. Move to multi-member House districts to roll back the effects of partisan gerrymandering. Pass a new Voting Rights Act, including nationwide automatic voter registration, felon enfranchisement and an end to voter ID laws. Grant citizenship to millions of undocumented immigrants, creating a host of new Democratic-leaning voters: “Republicans have always feared that immigration would change the character of American society. Democrats should reward them with their very worst nightmare.”

A summation of Faris’ ideas:

...... we can't win elections because voters despise our policies, therefore we need to fix the elections and flood the courts with zoned-out lefties.

He points to the undemocratic nature of the United States Senate, where one vote in a small state means so much more than one vote in a highly populous one.

Note to Mr Farris: The Founding Fathers set it up that way as the House represents the people and the Senate represents the States. The intent was that large states couldn't trample over small states interests. The Electoral College is an extension of this. This is why originally States appointed Senators to represent States interests. The ammendment to allow direct vote on Senators needs to be repealed as it was an erosion of the Founders intent.

A comment from hotair.com

A.k. Steele

"Despite their 'Cry Nazi' propaganda, it seems that they take many pages from 'Mein Kampf' in their strategy. We know the outcome for both the people and the world. Not taught in school, it is good that children learn the fall of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Nazism with the ultimate outcome. Sadly, those who know history will stand by helplessly as the fools around them repeat it. "Trial at Nuremburg" should be mandatory watching."

When the system works for them they are fine with it.

They would seek to disenfranchise most americans and just pander to a few megacities.
