For all the concessions President Obama offered Iran for his "nuclear deal" – $150 billion, for instance – Iran treated the U.S. with contempt, harassing and even taking into custody U.S. ships in the Persian Gulf. The adage that weakness is provocative was proven true (via the Daily Caller):
During the final years of the Obama administration, Iranian gunboats regularly harassed U.S. ships, with three dozen such interactions occurring in 2016.
The worst incident occurred in January 2016, when the Iranians captured two U.S. Navy riverine patrol boats and 10 sailors.

I’ll be that 0bama ordered those Navy guys not to fight back when they were hijacked on open seas.
They know that Trump is looking for an excuse to attack them.
Even worse I think they were ordered to make landfall. It was all a set up.

Our fighting men and women enjoy the opportunity to test their skills now and then. Free targets are a nice gesture from the Iranians. With Trump in office, they are probably disappointed they don’t get more opportunities to play with their toys (now that they have been given permission).
Iran has enough problems internally.
They know if they screw up, those internal folks will be getting some sort of help from us too.
I often wondered if they were even set up by our own government.

I think without a doubt, the US made it perfectly clear to these guys, behind the scene, that if they did that they’d be blown out of the water. I think Iran tried that a couple times early on.

they got the message that we wouldn’t put up with that, and secondly, that we’d respond with massive force. Iran would have no one coming to their aid, so for instance we blow five of their speed boats out of the water. Iran retaliates with some half @ss response someone, we’d then respond with overwelming force.
SkyDancer, that really does make me burn. And yeah...it is, as you say, a COMPLETE non-event.
Just imagine the dirt that Pompeo is getting from North Korea as we speak. The mullah sounds and The Hama are in a serious fix. I’ve got to get some more popcorn.
