Numerous conservative leaders back Mike Lee for Supreme Court

Twenty-seven conservative leaders signed a statement in support of Lee, including Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., Rep. Mia Love, R-Utah, Conservative Partnership Institute Chairman Jim DeMint, and FreedomWorks President Adam Brandon.

“Sen. Lee has a proven record of standing up for principle, for doing the right thing for the right reasons, even in the face of withering criticism,” the letter states. “And that’s what this nominee is in for.”

The statement warns the confirmation battle to replace Kennedy is likely to be the “roughest fight Washington has seen in decades,” and notes that a Supreme Court with a conservative majority will make decisions that invite a host of criticism.

“This is not an assignment for the faint of heart. We need a Supreme Court justice who is not only wise and principled, but brave,” the conservatives continued in their letter. “Mike Lee is one candidate on the president’s list who has proven to be all three.”

Sorry, Mark. But Mia Love is a conservative? Also, Rand Paul wanted Bob Corker for Secretary of State.

Last time I checked the appointment of judges is a decision made by the President? He has arrived at a few finalists in his own way and who he decides upon will be submitted to the Senate for character assassination and ultimately confirmed.

Lee thought Cruz was NBC. He’s wrong about a fundamental element of the Constitution. Let him stay in the Senate or become a TV judge.

I’m not a Mike Lee fan, however this last minute push in media seems odd. I would think these folks pushing him would know what a jerk he was to Trump. So why do they think Trumo would pick him or why would Trump want to pick him. Just seems odd to me that you know someone hated the man that can pick you yet you keep pushing him?

Can Lee be confirmed or would Collins and Murkowski vote against him because its obvious he’d vote to overturn Roe?

“Numerous” is subjective.

What about a plethora?

Would you say there was a plethora of conservatives?

The president assembled a group of fantastic minds and charged them with sorting through the whole American judicial system and selecting 25 candidates. That was done over a fairly long period of time.

All the hoopla now is for candidates seeking re election to get their name mentioned and getting credit for partaking in the process. they are pretending to be relevant

If Mike Lee is nominated to a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, his Senate seat would then become vacant and there would be one less Republican available to confirm him.

No. Having been in the U.S. Senate since the 17th Amendment was ratified makes a person worthless for anything else.

And often worthless, period.

A Mormon on SCOTUS? Hmmm... (okay, okay, I’m kidding. I know Lee is a pretty good guy.)

But hey, we have right now:

1 Episcopalian
3 Jews
5 Roman Catholics

No evangelicals.

Huh.

I thought the Christian right wing “owned” SCOTUS.

‘Submitted to the Senate for character assassination’

Yep. And Elena Kagan, Communist, was once described as a softball player and the Left SCREAMED that she was being singled out as a possible lesbian. Republicans are destroyed whevever they are up for ANYTHING, yet a Communist and a dull witted Latina skate right onto the SCOTUS because they are Democrats. 100% fed up with the DOUBLESTANDARD.
