DNA tests are being performed on children and parents in an attempt to reunite migrant families separated at the US border, said a federal official with knowledge of the reunifications.
"The safety and security is paramount, and it is not uncommon for children to be trafficked or smuggled by those claiming to be parents," the official said.
"To our knowledge, this is a cheek swab and is being done to expedite parental verification and ensuring reunification with verified parents due to child welfare concerns."

Remember Rachel Maddow et al complaining about “Show me your papers,” during the Obama adminstration, AZ had a law that had if the police stopped someone for a violation and they seemed an illegal, that they should ask for proof of being her legally.
The left is going to be show as hypocrites again, because it is never really about the children. It’s about kicking up a ruckus.
Apparently a bunch of immigration advocates are up in arms about this for privacy reasons.
In other news, there is good headway being made on the nation’s rape kit backlog, particularly in Texas.
Wonder how many of those children will not be claimed if the adults are required to have DNA tests? It will be shocking.

I read yesterday, though, that they have already saved one innocent little kid who was with quite a horrible person claiming to be their parent and wasn’t. There has to be some satisfaction for those poor border control workers for having saved a person. They are being given so much grief you have to cheer the victories.
I think we would have to accommodate them if we were unable to find relatives. None of this is their fault.

In a breakdown of the roughly 100 possibly separated kids under the age of 5 in custody, Fabian said 19 parents of these children have already been deported.
Fabian said 83 children were linked to 86 parents, while 16 minors were not linked to parents, and that of the 86 parents, 46 were in ICE custody, 19 were removed from the US and 19 were released from ICE custody. Two of the 86 parents, Fabian said, were “determined to have a criminal history that would make them unfit or a danger, criminal convictions related to child cruelty and kidnapping or rape.”

Adoption and stepchild cases will be messier. If a complaint could be made, it would be one about suddenly stiffening the procedures without a formal warning, and then not identifying who came in with whom in a way that will remain permanently traceable. There had been so much wink and nod about illegal immigration by both major parties, that if I had been Trump, I would have issued a formal warning to the world well before doing this. And yet so he isn’t the biggest softie in the world. We had to do this sooner or later. I’m sure our carping left will be right there when it comes to straightening the situation out (yeah, to heckle us).
If I had to guess, I’d say somewhere between 2 and 4 percent of the total are actually with relatives of any sort (and most of those will still get sold into slavery anyway).
EVERY illegal over the border needs to be DNA tested.
The left will NEVER admit that illegals coming into the country have caused a horrific situation with sex trafficking of minors. These invader mothers should be grateful that DNA testing is being done to assure that the children are not handed over to non-parents. They should also understand why US authorities have to be sure that any child with an adult is in fact with a parent.
