DALLAS — Firefighters and paramedics in Dallas were dodging fireworks Wednesday night, as many Independence Day revelers illuminated the skyline illegally.

According to Dallas Fire-Rescue Spokesperson Jason Evans, two engines had to be taken out of service after they were hit with fireworks.
One of those engines, Engine 18, is quite possibly the busiest engine in the city.
A firefighter riding in the back of Engine 18 even captured the moment the truck was hit on his cell phone.
According to Captain Jim McDade, the President of the Dallas Fire Fighter’s Association, Engine 18 was headed to a medical call near an East Dallas apartment complex on Munger when an artillery shell was thrown underneath the truck.

You then see a firework illuminate near the front of the engine, hear an explosion, and then smoke can be seen coming from the undercarriage.

McDade says that the firework blew the oil pan off the engine. Evans confirmed that it’s not yet back in service.

Another incident involved DFR Ambulance 24. McDade shared pictures of its charred floorboards and said that another reveler tossed an artillery shell inside the cab when the window was rolled down.
He said that a paramedic was flagged down by someone for help, and when he rolled down the window the firework was tossed in by someone else.

A bunch of Dallas needs to burn to the ground because of this kind of crap, then maybe things would change. Don’t think Amish were tossing fireworks from their buggies.

The concept of an “illegal firework” in the USA seems a bit... off.
When I was at Domino’s, a couple of bottle rockets bounced off my windshield. Not as serious as this case, but there are idiots everywhere.
I doubt it was “an artillery shell.” Still, a good bang to rip off an oil pan.

Perhaps allowing the firemen to carry firearms and shoot the ass jacks when they pull their stupid stunts.
In Europe a couple of years ago some African immigrants selected a young woman victim in a big crowd at night, then shot fireworks and firecrackers into the crowd as a diversion and quickly pulled the girl away and drove her to a building and gang raped her. They bragged about it on social media and were quoted in FR. Laughed about her being a virgin.

Quite a bang, actually, given the goodly clearance of a diesel truck oil pan to the ground. What fool was hurling a good portion of a stick of dynamite into civilization? Throw that fool under the jail (so to speak).
A half million dollar vehicle is disabled but a firework? Not buying it.
I’ve never heard of that incident but I’ve heard of others.
It was not a illegal firework rather a undocumented firework.
