Good evening, radu...this is “can’t sit still” music.

Thanks for Buckwheat Zydeco. ((HUGS))

Howdy, LUV.

How’d your day go? Did you get some decent sleep last night for a change?

Yeah, I’ve been busy. The humidity has been increasing as the monsoon moisture approaches. There is a small percentage of rain in the forecast for next week, but I’ve heard that one before.

LOL! You aren’t kidding! Love Cajun music for that reason.

I’d already picked out a little music for tonight so it would be ready to go. Can’t stay long since the alarm will go off early in the morning. Ugh! Museum day.

But when I didn’t see Buckwheat’s name in your list, just HAD to add a little something by him. :-)
Had the pleasure of hearing him ‘live’ a few times when I lived in Raleigh. No one sat still! LOL

I did get some rest! Peaches didn’t bother me much at all, which is a good thing. It’s way too hot even with fans and AC to “cuddle” and he knows it. LOL!

It rained a teensy bit—1/10th of an inch. The best part is that it cooled down and now is 77 degrees.

Hope your day went well. I’m guessing y’all didn’t go out for the evening, huh. Is it storming?

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

JEROME KERN

SWING TIME

After Fred and Ginger made their debut as a dancing duo in RKO’s 1933 film “Flying Down to Rio,” producer Pandro Berman reached out to the leading composers of the Great American Songbook to each write the score for a given movie musical. I’ve already covered the musicals written by Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and George Gershwin. This was Jerome’s and Dorothy Fields’ 1936 contribution to musical immortality.

“PICK YOURSELF UP”

Could anything be funnier than Fred pretending to be unable to dance with Ginger trying to teach him? The kiss-off line in this video is hysterical.

Ugh! I feel for you if the humidity is rising. NO FUN AT ALL with that kind of heat. Hope y’all get relief soon.

We get a short break this weekend as a cold front is moving through tonight. 80s for the next couple of days, then the heat comes back all next week - - humidity included. *sigh*

It’s a little soon to wish for autumn but we do. LOL

YAY! Sleep is GOOD! Glad Peaches behaved himself.

And YAY again for rain and a cool-down! We had the same here though we got a touch more rain. Woke up to a big bolt of lightning zipping down as I opened the bedroom curtains. It startled a yelp out of me. LOL

It isn’t raining here now but it was too wet to sit in the beer garden tonight so we just stayed home.

The nice thing is it’ll be cooler tomorrow and with luck I’ll be able to work upstairs at the museum in the morning. I reeeeeeeally need to rearrange everything so it’s more organized.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

JEROME KERN

SWING TIME: “PICK YOURSELF UP”

This is from Oscar’s 1959 shot at the Kern songbook. It’s superhuman just how rapidly he plays.
