nationalists come is all flavors and colors but the same ideology within the same group - i would venture most FReepers are nationalists by definition

The difficulties come up because

• definitions, in response to incremental cultural changes, have always altered over time.
• This process has speeded up dramatically because of internet and other 24/7/365 incessant, instant global communication, and
• Ideologists grab onto words and twist them around for propagandistic purposes.

So you've got people saying "Cultural enrichment is good, cultural appropriation is bad." "Evangelical is good, fundamentalist is bad." "Patriotism is good, nationalism is bad." Or "Conservative is good, alt-right is bad."

It's hard to pin down what people really mean by it. And once the MSM contaminates a word ("Alt-right = KKK") it's pretty hard to decontaminate it.

Smart people want to avoid "nuanced" arguments with Leftists over what the differences are between white nationalists, white supremacists, white pride, etc.

It's exhausting.

Better to do what Proud Boys have done and simply state you are pro-Western Civilization. This is inclusive and avoids the taint of racism.
