In socialist candidates' election success, some see ominous rejection of Democratic 'Old Guard'

“None of them implemented socialism in way that actually adhered to tenets because, in general, leaders become corrupt by power,” said Jason Marczak, a fellow at the Atlantic Council who specializes in Latin America. “Venezuela is not socialist; it’s a dictatorship.”

Reich argues that Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, to name a few countries, did start out with revolutionary-minded leaders who described themselves as socialist and who pledged to drive out government corruption, distribute financial resources and broaden access to social programs.

Instead, Reich said, the leaders mismanaged the government, making life more difficult and sending economies into downward spirals. Venezuela and Nicaragua have been rocked by protests and violent crackdowns by the governments.

“What a 28-year-old American with very little international experience sees as socialism is really utopianism,” said Otto J. Reich, a former U.S. ambassador to Venezuela and assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere Affairs. “This woman is ignorant. Socialism offers simple answers, and offers great things, but who is going to pay for these things, like a free college education?”

They can't keep that secret forever.

Mexico has unlocked the gates and the socialist infection has spread ...

Now the younger poorly educated US generations see the wonders of free and regulation and cannot wait to become kings in their lifetimes ... all at some one else’s expense.

Socialism fails over and over. Yet, the idiots are certain it can work with the right people.

This is really key. If we had teachers en masse who respected and loved America, every student from Kindergarten on would have a love for this country as the greatest civilization in human history, and that is thanks largely to free market capitalism and the rejection of socialist pie-in-the-sky promises. Even the poorest person here lives better than Kings and Queens from all of history. They have their own phones. They watch TV on flat panels. They have heating and cooling and clean drinking water. They have access to free educational tools that dwarf universities (the internet).

All of that is threatened by importing crime, drugs, and poverty from the third world. Instead of complaining about it, the young in this country should be the first ones volunteering to stand at the border to insure their cultural inheritance is protected.

...leaders mismanaged the government...

Masterminds. The betters of We the People. Predictable failures. Every time it’s tried.

“... the young in this country should be the first ones volunteering to stand at the border to insure their cultural inheritance is protected.”

And, of course, they will be the last on the border, or the first to stand the way of ICE.

When the Democratic Party in the South collapsed, a restraint on the leftward drift of the Party was gone. The Party can now be considered globalist and socialist. It is not an acceptable political vehicle for most Americans.

Obviously she has not read F. A Hayek’s classic book on socialism “ The Road to Serfdom” where the Nobel prize winning economist explains how socialism inevitably leads to not only loss of economic freedom, but individual liberty. Nobel Prize winning economist, Milton Friedman, similarly wrote several books about socialism with the same warning. Despite numerous examples of nations being economically destroyed by socialism and turning into police states, academics have always maintained that socialism would work if it was implemented by just the right people.

Virtuous people who think like they do and whom you can’t fire without an act of the politburo.

“None of them implemented socialism in way that actually adhered to tenets because, in general, leaders become corrupt by power,”

This is exactly what the founding fathers were afraid of - somebody getting too much power. That is why they wanted a limited government, and why they created a separation of powers through 3 branches of government and through federalism. Yet, the egotistical self-made messiahs, like Obama, think that they are so superior to the rest of us that they deserve to have the power to order all of society. These prima donnas are exactly the wrong people to be leaders. They will quickly becomes dictators, if given the chance. as Lord Acton said, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Look at the track record of communism and other socialist countries: China, Cuba, Cambodia, Venezuela, Nicaragua.

So... If this young skull full of mush REALLY believes in No Borders, how many illegal alien trespassers and invaders has she welcomed to live in her own home? Will she take the locks and doors off of her home? Locks and doors are, after all, symbols of borders. Since in her Socialist, Communist Utopia no one owns anything, anyone should have an open invitation to ‘occupy’ her home.

“Venezuela is not socialist; it’s a dictatorship.”

Why they don't notice the regularity with which this happens, I do not know. All socialist experiments either devolve into dictatorship or end up utterly dependent on capitalist patrons and a steady stream of poor migrant labor.

Serves the Democrat Party right for pushing the victim mentality so relentlessly since WWII. Now the “victims” are turning on the Democrats for not solving all their problems in the past 70 years. The victim classes want more than food stamps and free housing now, so the expectations of the Gibsmedats have been kicked up a notch to include free college and forgiveness of student loans for the deadbeats who have never finished college.

This is the old guard. Hillary and Obama have been socialist criminals for decades. How is this something new?

Socialists are not driven by success, they are driven by insatiable greed for power. Power over others brings them wealth and control to crush and kill all resistors. Success has nothing to do with it. People just don’t get this.
