On July 6, Gabby Giffords’ gun control group retweeted NPR criticism of the “good guy with a gun” scenario and described claims of armed citizens defending themselves as a “myth.”

If she would have had a few of her staff carrying that fateful day it would have saved her and that little girl and whomever else got shot by the lunatic. Self defense is a myth only if you refuse to defend yourself.
Not too mention the many people that are spared burglaries, home invasions, etc. just on the idea that an armed homeowner might be home.
That’s a flat out lie that is demonstrably debunked every day here on Free Republic.
Sort of like John McCain ‘releasing a strongly worded statement about President Trump!’ every other day.

heck there was a story yesterday or Friday about a woman who blew away a carjacker who was trying to take her car with her kids in it.

Out of a group of about 8 or so licensed carriers, an amazing 2 hands went up.
Both men had withdrawn their concealed pieces, and both situations were solved, safely, with out firing or injuries.
One of the cases was particularly memorable, as the fellow was a veterinarian making a night housecall. The bad guys had set him up, and were after drugs; but the vet (when realizing that he was about to be robbed (and possibly worse) drew, aimed, and the bad guys apologized and vamoosed.
On a larger note...
Such a pity that so many take advantage of (one suspects) a brain-damaged woman. Mark Kelly, for example, is an fungal anti-2A political opportunist.
In that case, why does Gabi need guards armed with guns?
And then these idiots will tell us the police will protect us until a black person gets killed by one and then the argument changes to all police are racists and out of control.
I'm 70 years old, have only produced a gun in self defense twice in my life. Both times the threat ended quickly and was not repreated. Neither time did I have to use the pistol, but both times would not have ended well for me if I was unarmed.
Not some idiot's talk, fact. I avoid trouble at all cost, but when there is no other option, I will defend myself.
