Reports say Syrian air defense systems fired at planes, coming in from Jordan, and heading towards T4 airbase used by Iran

Reports in Syria say an airstrike hit the site of a known Iranian airbase in Syria's Homs region. Reports on Syrian television attributed the attack to Israel.

According to the official Syrian news agency SANA, Syrian air defense systems were fired as warplanes, purportedly coming into the country from Jordan, approached the T4 base near Tiyas. The planes, which reports said were flying low to avoid detection, passed through the al-Tanf area where U.S. forces have a base...

The Israelis hung low while the Syrian government retook territory in recent weeks.

Now they wanted to send a message I guess about their opposition to Iranians in Syria.

There was a post on Nextrush blog about the events in recent weeks as Israel stood aside with the Russians keeping Iranians out of the way while the Syrians retook territory near the Golan Heights.

The US kept back from supporting the rebels as well
who are just a bunch of headchopper Islamic fanatics.

I wonder how hard the Syrians really tried to stop them.

things will get a lot better once the Iranians stop threatening Israel and go home. I think the Russians and Syrians will decide to remove them from Syria but... will they give up Iraq? (I think not...but it sure could help things if they could be so persuaded... maybe their own people might get enough organization and power to get a bettter, saner government again?)

The war against Iran is proceeding nicely, low key and effectively.

The “Haaretz” piece linked to in my blog post said the Russians agreed to hold the Iranians back 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Jordanian border.

This Wednesday the distance from the Golan Heights the Iranians will be kept back for the next round of the Syrian government offensive is expected to be on the table when Benjamin Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin meet.

During the offensive, I read stories from various sources with biases and got the impression that Iranians were inside the 25 mile limit but only to observe in small groups, not to participate in combat.

What? Did Israel use the “clouds they stole” to do the dirty work?

Is this the same air base that Israel supposedly attacked 3 or 4 times now? It’s not impossible, going back to hit targets they missed. Or maybe its just a constant insult to the same wound. First that I’ve read of Israeli planes coming in from over Jordan, but you never know.

Why would they give up over Iraq? It was part of Obama’s plan to get them more involved, ostensibly to help control the Iraqi Shia population. Iranians paid to plant thousands of IEDs that killed and maimed American troops for years, and Obama rewarded them with lifting of sanctions and a plane full of cash, among other favors.

Understood. Obama sold out Iraq, in favor of his more radical Islamic pals in Teheran.
