Trump Defies McConnell with SCOTUS Pick
Breitbart ^ | July 9, 2018 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 07/09/2018 9:52:48 PM PDT by conservative98

President Donald Trump defied advice from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in picking Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be the next Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, a move that resulted in a potential Justice who would have one of the most conservative records on the high court.

Democrats, including former staff for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, are already seizing on McConnell’s advice to the president as a line of attack against Kavanaugh.

McConnell, as Breitbart News and the New York Times reported on Saturday night, was pushing Trump to pick Judge Ray Kethledge–or Judge Tom Hardiman–since McConnell believed they would face an easier Senate confirmation than Kavanaugh or Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

“McConnell has said he does not want a SCOTUS battle in an election year,” one source who had been briefed on McConnell’s private comments to many people in Washington told Breitbart News on Saturday. “He thinks Kethledge would be easy to confirm because Kethledge is not a consistent conservative.”

A scotus battle isn’t exactly what he should want. Every time the left goes nuts Trump gets more voters. Push them over the brink.

I think when the dust settles, this is a non-issue as Kavanaugh is an establishment judicial pick with a lengthy track record. The drama queens will continue to hyperventilate but they are embarrassing themselves. Kagan hired him at Harvard, which has to count for something. What about fellow Harvard professor Pochahantas?

Perhaps the REAL goal here is to maybe LOSE this fight, knowing that LOTS of conservatives will then come out in November...certainly worked 2 years ago.

It didn’t matter who Trump picked, no Democrat was going to vote for him

Kagan hired him at Harvard?

Some other FReeper said he was “Rove’s Butt Boy”...

How come Breitbart can never figure out the BushieGOPe RINOs?

I took one look at this guy, before I did any research, and I thought “Roberts”.

Who is advising Trump on these GOPE traitors?

“this is a non-issue as Kavanaugh is an establishment judicial pick “

I think so too.

Probably interchangeable with the other two.

You're a true statesman, Mitch.

There are pictures of him schmoozing it up with Rove. He’s as establishment as you get, a male Harriett Miers. He will be confirmed and as squishy as Kennedy.

When the legal names mentioned with him are Kagan and Kennedy, I don’t know why McConnell wouldn’t love the guy. And I heard Mitch wanted the fellow of Indian heritage, so this all seems to be disinformation.

This so reminds me of the Bush years.

Who in the hey is advising Trump on this?

It's getting so I can literally look at someone and see RINO eyes staring back at me.

John Roberts’ eyes.

Now, let's none of us forget the fake “fight” Roberts had with Obama in the SOTU address before his traitorous Obamacare flip.

This was political stagecraft at its best.

These are actors with law degrees. Vomitous.

Mitch has forgotten our POTUS’ #1 PRIORITY.
AMERICA FIRST.

Poor old man. Mitch has long forgotten how this might be done. He must work a tad stronger with a little more effort than that which he normally exerts. “It don’t come easy.”

This is POTUS’ choice, not the RINO Mitch’s decision.

It’s like Graham said, they’re ‘all winners’.... Mitch McConnell’s a good man - he made a suggestion - it wasn’t a ‘command...

Democrats would condemn Trump is he choose McConnell’s pick and they would condemn him if he didn’t. Democrats are haters...

"There are pictures of him schmoozing it up with Rove."

So what? President Trump schmoozed with liberal businessmen and politicians. Hell, Trump even met with the worst dictator in the world.

"This so reminds me of the Bush years."

You're kidding, right?

Yeah, MBitch, that's what is most important when confirming a US Supreme Court Justice—not something frivolous, such as faithfully interpreting that pesky Constitution...
