The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Brian Benczkowski as the Department of Justice’s Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division.

According to the Washington Post, the Senate voted 51 to 48, despite “the objection of Democrats who worried about his representation of a Russian bank and lack of prosecutorial experience.” Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia was the only Democrat to vote for Benczkowki's confirmation. “Benczkowski acknowledged briefly performing legal work for Alfa Bank, which has ties to Russian government officials, in 2017,” reports NPR, which also noted Benczkowski helped manage the daily affairs of the Justice Department late in the Bush administration and led the DOJ's transition team ahead of the Trump era.

Democratic Senator Dick Durbin tweeted Wednesday in response to the confirmation: “This could prove to be a historic mistake.” Meanwhile, Attorney General Jeff Sessions praised Benczkowski in a statement. “Brian is an outstanding lawyer with a diverse public service and criminal law background spanning over 20 years,” Sessions said. “This will be the sixth senior position Brian has held at the Department, and we are fortunate to have someone with his breadth of experience and strong leadership skills willing to serve again. At a time like this—with surging violent crime and an unprecedented drug epidemic—this position is especially important.”

Anybody know anything this confirmation or how it will affect anything going on (or lack thereof) over at the DOJ?

Clintoon sells nuclear materials to the Russkis and it was no big deal.

A couple of Russki pranksters post a couple anti-Clintoon memes on Facebook and it knocks the melting polar ice caps off the top of the democrats' list of "greatest threats to national security".

He was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, one of the most insider’s insider law firm in the US.

Bret Kavanaugh and John Bolton, among many other government figures, have worked there. It’s not a place to get Swamp drainers. They back RINOs and Democrats with their political contributions.
