Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin says Brett Kavanaugh has "all the right qualities" to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Manchin's comments regarding President Donald Trump's nominee to the high court came during an interview on West Virginia's MetroNews' "Talkline" radio show on Wednesday.

An excerpt of the interview is posted on the MetroNews Twitter account.

"He has all the right qualities," Manchin said. "He's well-educated and, with that, we have to just look at making sure that the rule of law and the Constitution is going to be followed and that's going to basically preempt anything else he does."

C’mon Manchin. Your party has been hijacked by radical thugs. Time to red pill.

I'm not a fan of his gun views. But in this light, the question should be asked/analysis should be performed:

When an important vote comes up, who you gonna call- Manchin or Collins or Murkowsky?

Is he one of the red state dems that needs to tread lightly on this subject?

Time to red pill.

You are expecting too much. More like "Time to get re-elected in a state Trump carried by 30 points".

Yes, he’s one of the red-state Dems that “need” to vote for K or he’s toast...

Manchin will have to vote to confirm Kavanaugh unless the Democrats finds a get out of jail free card like evidence that Kavanaugh said that he doesn’t like Oprah. He won’t show his hand until after all of the hearing, but when he does it, 3 to 5 other Democrats will join him.

Oh yes, he is from WV which Trump won by double digits. He is on very shaky ground. IMHO if he votes against Kavanuagh he is toast.

Any vote in a storm. He’s the bone (or maybe one in a few) that’s thrown by the Democrats.

He’s the purple pill.

Joe, Joe, Joe. Dickie Durban says you're supposed to take one for the team here, even if it tanks your re-election.

Guess that rings hollow coming from a guy sitting in a safe seat, eh Joe?

Definitely. Manchin is up for re-election this fall in West Virginia, which had the highest margin of victory for Trump of any state (40%+). I don’t think there’s any way he can vote against confirming Kavanaugh and retain his seat.

Manchin is running scared. I hope he comes through and supports Kavanaugh ...

Also the biggest victory margin in WV for any GOP president ever. He’ll be lucky to defeat Morrisey.

West Virginia was the most pro-Trump state with almost 70% of votes cast going to President Trump. Manchin has a good lead in his Senate campaign now in the early summer. But a "no" vote and a few rallies by President Trump could easily turn that around. Manchin better play nice.

Somehow Manchin is polling well in West Virginia. I trust the people of West Virginia do the right thing and vote him out, regardless of how he is trying to use the Supreme Court pick to get votes.

Can’t imagine voting for Gorsuch but against K. He should get 3 Dems.

The guy deserves a unanimous vote.

Kavanaugh is a shoo-in. Why? Because the democrat choice in the immediate future is vote down Kavanaugh/lose ground in the Senate, or confirm Kavanaugh and keep the Senate close (no way they re-take it this round).

But the long term dictates which choice they make: If the vote down Kavanaugh, the GOP gains a lock-tight majority. Which means Trump’s next choice can be ANYONE he wants, the democrats can’t stop it.

So they have to let Kavanaugh go this time. Manchin, Donnelly and a few others will be permitted the Potemkin Village “moderate bipartisan” vote in hopes of keeping their seats.

That sounds like Manchin has already decided to vote for confirmation, it would be kind of difficult to say all of that and then add...but I'm voting to reject his nomination anyway.
