GOP Sen. Lee: I Believe Every Republican and ‘a Few Democrats’ Will Support Kavanaugh
Breitbart ^ | 14 Jul 2018 | Ian Hanchett

Host Neil Cavuto asked, “Is it your sense that every Republican will be on board?”

Lee responded, “Yes, it is. I want to be very clear, Neil, I can’t speak for any colleague, Republican or otherwise. I nonetheless believe, and I nonetheless predict, we’ll end up with every Republican supporting Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation. I also think we’ll end up with a few Democrats.”

If Kavanaugh gets the votes from Republicans then you will see all the vulnerable Democrats also vote for Kavanaugh

53 or 54 votes. He’ll get all 50 Republicans in the Senate, plus the three Democrats running for reelection this year in ruby-red states (ND, IN, WV). 54th vote depends on if McCain’s replacement has been appointed by the time the vote occurs in September.

Rand Paul said he would not support Kavanaugh. Does anyone know if he changed his mind?

If every GOPer votes aye that frees the Red State Dums to vote aye since their votes are not needed. No biggie here. If one or more of the doubting Reps votes no then that puts the Red State dems in a small dilemma. Risk voters by voting nay. Risk SJWs by voting aye. But they could point to no voting GOPers as cover, saying “Hey look, life long Republicans also boted no”. My guess is, if it’s on the line, they vote no.

"Yes" is not going to save Donnelly (D-IN). It might help Manchen (D-WV); but even if Manchen wins I think President Trump will tap him for a minor Czar or Cabinet position, and then we might just get very close to 60 GOP Senators...

The Dem. supporters will be Manchin and Donnelly, I would think. A vote for Kavanaugh would enhance their re-election bids.

Mitch should pull a trick on Democrats

Say he doesn't have the votes, down 2 or 3 votes & see which Democrats would vote yes to get Kavanaugh passed! If no Democrats vote yes then we know who they are & then come out & say we have the votes now

Although it has likely been said elsewhere, there is an important dynamic which is being routinely ignored throughout the many debates regarding the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh.

PDJT has a list of names which are, in various forms, far less palatable for Democrats. I have little doubt that should Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination fail, Trump will wheel out someone far less flexible as his second, third or 20th choice. And he will do so without batting an eye. Shumer and Company know this. They cannot resist a SC nominee indefinitely and their choices get worse and worse as time goes by. The Democrats will make all kinds of sound and fury about the inadequacy of Kavanaugh’s character and judicial temperament. In the end, it will mean nothing. Kavanaugh is in and the Dems just have to eat it.

The only way any Dems come on board is if the Pubs already have enough votes. That way they can placate Trump voters without being blamed by Dems for putting him over the top.

It’s one thing to say that before he’s nominated to try to head it off. It’s different to actually vote against him. He won’t “change his mind” until after the hearings. Then he can say he was “reassured” by his answers and vote for him.
