TOURING TRUMPLAND – AND FINDING IT LARGELY TRUMPLESS
Daily Telegraph (Australia) ^ | 7/16/2018 | Tim Blair

Posted on 07/17/2018 5:46:50 PM PDT by RightGeek

Exhausted by media obsession over Donald Trump’s divisive presidency, Russian collusion, threat to liberty and destruction of democracy, I recently went to the one place on earth where I could easily avoid hearing anything at all about Donald Trump.

I went to the United States.

Anyone who has not visited the US since Trump’s hilarious 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton might be surprised by the utter absence there of Trump in daily life. Everyday Americans are mostly just getting on with things, as normal, non-obsessive people tend to do. The apparent civil war we keep hearing about just isn’t happening.

Of course, certain precautions must be taken to avoid being drawn into a vortex of anti-Trump mania. During my visit I carefully avoided tiny outposts of Trump fixation, including Hollywood celebrity households, the offices of any former Clinton staffers and newsrooms at the New York Times, CNN, the Washington Post and MSNBC.

I also dodged most college campuses, although a day or two at the excellent University of Iowa proved happily Trump-free.

It helps, too, if your point of arrival in the US isn’t California, where a ragtag pro-Hillary resistance movement remains active. Instead, I flew direct to Dallas before commencing a forensic multistate listening tour through Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

As it happens, all of those states voted for Trump. But their larger cities tended to side with Clinton, so a certain balance was available. ...

Except that nobody wanted to talk about Trump, Clinton or politics in general. This wasn’t due to apathy or lack of engagement. It was because there are more interesting topics of conversation, such as, well, just about everything. Work. Family. Sport. Music. Weather. Cars. Food.

Tim Blair has fought the good fight in Australia since Heck was a pup. Hit the link for more like "One fellow contentedly mingled among a Kentucky crowd wearing a shirt with the slogan “Make America Straight Again”, which would likely result in a public shaming or worse if he wore it in LA or New York. Hillary Clinton’s “deplorables” aren’t shy in the Bluegrass State."

People are tuning out the fake news media and CNN and MSNBC have a smaller audience than HGTV and the Food Network.

The American people are fed up and tired over the constant, ginned-up outrage over Trump.

Its like a bad TV show that never stops running and people have had enough.

Just look at the eligible voter turnout for the last 100 years. There was no great turnout in 2016, it was actually a little less than the last two times. The people who care usually greatly overestimate the number of folks who care like they do, at least enough to deign to vote either way about it.

All we gotta do to win is arrange for port-o-potties at the battleground that don’t offer gender options. Just “Man” and “Woman”. While the Left wheels around to destroy those first we can unleash our Rednecks in Trucks Cavalry on their unprotected flank and easily destroy them.

Exactly. It is not healthy to push every event, day af day, as the worst event in the planet’s history. Today’s worst day ever, replaces last week’s.

What happened to the children in cages ripped from their mother’s arms? Gone. Forgotten. Discarded. On to the next ginned up outrage.

The media is like some deranged neighbor who is constantly hysterically screaming about something. After awhile, you avoid them like the plague for your own sanity.

Yup.

After a few minutes of watching it, you have to switch channels.

Constant negativity isn’t good for one’s health or one’s sanity.

Just don’t watch it and you’ll be a happier person.

The greatest freedom I’ve been given by having Trump in the white house is I don’t have to pay too close attention to politics anymore. I trust him and the administration. I can go about regular daily life now. Freedom.

I think P.J. O’Rourke explained it all years ago:
Q. Why can the Democrats field hundreds or thousands of leftists to protest and riot at the drop of a hat, but a conservative “demonstration” consists of two Young Americans for Freedom waving 3x5 inch American flags?
A. We have jobs.

Trump can turn out massive crowds, but the general point holds. Due to Trump’s regulatory, economic, and tax reforms, even Democrats have jobs.

Let’s keep this a simple perspective...

Does anyone remember what the lamestream media’s ‘Outrage of the Week’ was 2, 3, 4 months ago?

Does anyone remember what the lamestream media’s ‘Outrage of the Week’ was 2, 3, 4 WEEKS ago?

NO.

All everyone remembers is if DONALD TRUMP is looking out for AMERICA’s BEST INTEREST.

Name ONE THING the media and the Democratic Party has done to stimulate the economy and put food on someone’s table.

THAT my friends are what the voting public care about most.

BINGO!

Been saying that for more than 10 years. That’s why leftards wants to get our guns is because they KNOW we will wipe them out when the CW happens.

[People are tuning out the fake news media and CNN and MSNBC have a smaller audience than HGTV and the Food Network.]

The media is burning people out on the anti-Trump hysteria. People are looking around, seeing the economy is doing well, they have a job and the sky is not falling.

I’ve heard this from more people now than ever before in my life. People actually talking about how they don’t watch the news anymore or are taking it in extremely small doses and moving on with their life.

It’s worse than they know. One of the guys I went to with is an MSNBC addict. Every morning he would come in and put a n morning joe. Drove me nuts. Even he has tuned out. His TDS has almost disappeared. Politics is rarely a topic, and the outrage du jour is completely irrelevant.
