The United Methodist Church Has Appointed A Transgender Deacon
The Aquila Report ^ | 7/16/2018 | Julie Zauzmer

Posted on 07/18/2018 8:23:51 AM PDT by bkopto

Barclay, a transgender person who identifies as neither male nor female and thus uses the pronoun “they,” was commissioned on Sunday as the first non-binary member of the clergy in the United Methodist Church.

The United Methodist Church is one of the largest denominations in America, falling behind only the Catholic Church and the Southern Baptist Convention. The mainline Protestant denomination has been bitterly divided over sexuality and gender identity: Its official rules say clergy must either be celibate or in heterosexual marriages, and can perform only such marriages, but American bishops have ordained gay and transgender clergy before, and clergy have conducted same-sex marriages.

In the Northern Illinois Conference, where Barclay was commissioned Sunday [June 4, 2017], Bishop Sally Dyck said in a statement, “While M’s journey over the last few years has included gender identity, all of those who were commissioned or ordained on Sunday have been on some kind of journey that has brought them to new places of faith, life and relationships. Likewise, I hope the church will find itself at a new place in the near future when it comes to full inclusion.”

So what’s worse, this deacon “M” or a bishop named Sally Dyck?

Sad, a fine denomination at one time now completely hijacked by left wing freaks. This “deacon” is not even the worst of it.

Correction: Deacon “Barclay” or Sally Dyck.

This is Bishop Dyck, BTW:

Barclay finished seminary and went to work as the youth director at a United Methodist church in Austin.

The UMC should remove Church from their name. They are a leftist PAC.

“So what’s worse, this deacon “M” or a bishop named Sally Dyck?”

Is it Dyke or Dick?

You can control a lot of things but not how I address you. If you complain about it, I will accuse you of age-ism and able-ism

The Episcopal Church is today’s religious role model in the LGBT world.

Reason No. 472 I quit organized religion 60 years ago.

It isn’t so important what this church in the Northern Illinois Conference did. What is very important is how all the other United Methodist Churches in America react. God is watching and waiting.

Well, the photo I put in this post makes me wonder. But not too deeply.

Well, let’s face it. UMC stopped being a church of God years ago.

I’m not a Methodist but IIRC, this denomination in the past had not always been so leftward tilting.

It seems as though this denomination started their turn to the Left about the same time as the Episcopalians and Presbyterians. Does that sound about right to other Freepers out there?

Another IIRC, I had, until the last 10 years or so, always thought of Presbyterians as being somewhat more conservative in the theology - though obviously not conservatively evangelical in their outlook. Again, does this sound right?

Another real good reason why I left the Methodist Church . . . actually, they left me. Add this to the fact that they can’t find any Biblical passages that prohibit abortions (Thou Shall Not Kill), I’m completely done with this circus.

No, this isn’t really why you left organized religion. You discovered other gods to worship.

God created you to worship him first, and to fellowship with other believers second. Now, how do you do fulfill these two purposes without the benefit of “organized religion?”
