House expresses support for ICE, denounces calls to abolish agency

The GOP-controlled House passed a resolution Wednesday putting the chamber on record in support for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which has become a whipping post for the left-wing of the Democratic Party.

The non-binding resolution, authored by Rep. Clay Higgins, celebrated the work of an agency that still has the support of most Americans, but has recently come under heavy fire from Democrats over the role it plays in enforcing federal immigration laws.

“For weeks now the abolish ICE movement has been growing in popularity on the left with many Democrats embracing this radical policy stance,” Mr. Higgins said. “Calls to abolish ICE are reckless, dangerous to America’s national security and threaten the well-being of our ICE agents.”

The Louisiana Republican added, “the campaign against ICE is the latest rallying cry for open borders, the latest call to prioritize illegal immigrants over American citizens, the latest shrill cacophony from the left to vilify and demonize front-line law enforcement in America.”

The resolution passed the House on a 244-35 vote. Heeding the advice of party leaders, 133 Democrats refused to take sides, instead voting “present.”

Before the vote, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, slammed the resolution, saying it does nothing to reunite children that have been separated from their parents were separated under President Trump’s “cruel” zero tolerance policy.

“This resolution is the equivalent of fiddling while Rome is burning,” Mr. Nadler, New York Democrat, said. “This is a humanitarian crisis. We do not have the time to waste with political stunts with this bill while the moral fiber of our country is torn apart.”

‘I will be voting ‘present’ on this bill because I have no desire to play the Republican’s immoral games right now,” Mr. Nadler said.

‘I will be voting ‘present’ on this bill because I have no desire to play the Republican’s immoral games right now,” Mr. Nadler said.

Nadler's radical Democrats made the bed of the immoral games over abolishing ICE, now they can lay in it.

It would be funny if it weren’t such a serious matter: There’s more evidence for abolishing the FBI than ICE by an order of magnitude, so-to-speak.

But as I stated in a comment to someone earlier today, “mob rules”.

I’m SHOCKED. HOR Republicans actually did something that will mean the dems just might reap what they sow, come election day. A “present” vote? That’s worse than a “no” vote if they want the maniac wing of the party to support them.

Dirty little secret is, they will never abolish ANY agency (though some indeed need to go away).

If they didn’t vote for it, they voted against it but were too chicken, so used the “present” dodge. That should not be allowed. We can all see the fat pig, Nadler, was present, but he did not vote for the bill supporting ICE.

So 35 democrats (i assume no rinos voted for it) actually went on record for abolishing ICE.
and 133 democrats went on record as too chicken sh*t to share what they believe.

That should make some nice campaign ads.

Nadler would have voted but he found out the bill wasn’t to protect the liquor service funding for getting an ice vendor to help while serving booze at the Congressional lounges and parties.

Oh, that kind of ICE.
Not for Nadler.

“It would be funny if it weren’t such a serious matter: “

This particular incident isn’t serious. That’s the whole idea of the spineless GOPe members. This was just a resolution, and the GOPe will never let the real DIM bill come up for a vote. They don’t want to embarrass their friends across the aisle by forcing them to go on the record to either support or attack ICE.

A vote present is a refusal to acknowledge our country needs border enforcement.

Make them defend that.

Nice try cowardly commie democRATS. Voting ‘present’ is the same as voting to abolish ICE. That excuse won’t fly.

He'd rather play the Democrats' immoral game of selling baby parts for profit.
