The Inthinkables
American Thinker ^ | July 19, 2018 | Christopher Knight

And so another notch is marked on the belt of political correctness. This time, it's Papa John himself. John Schnatter has been excommunicated from the company he began in the broom closet of his father's tavern. Since 1984, Papa John's Pizza has become one of the most successful chains in America, with almost 5,000 locations and providing jobs to countless individuals from all facets of society.

Schnatter lost it all this week, including his name on a football stadium and a business school. His offense? Referring to irrevocable history about the founder of a competing franchise during a conference call, though inappropriate vernacular has never been ascribed to Schnatter himself.

Once upon a time, Schnatter could have spoken of Colonel Sanders's ingrained culture without consequence. And once upon a time, Blazing Saddles was produced. Mel Brooks often laments that his comedy masterpiece could never be made today. But in 1974, the art of thinking without being offended was not lost. Sane people were not actively searching out cause for their feelings to be bruised.

From the article:

So kindly allow me to introduce a new word into the English lexicon: "inthinkable."

An inthinkable is a person for whom critical thinking is difficult if not impossible. That is at best. At worst, an inthinkable is a person capable of thought but who has willingly chosen to shirk the responsibility of engaging his mind.

Colonel Sanders used to say the word, “nigger”?

Why? Was he singing his favorite gangsta rap song?

I agree it’s a reprehensible word but why the lack of consistency?

Paula Deen allegedly said that word under unclear circumstances, and is banished from public life. Book contracts and TV shows canceled.

A black comedian called Obama “my nigger” at a public White House event, and that was ok.

Black rap people have nigger in their lyrics, and that’s ok.

Colonel Sanders didn't actually use the word himself. He was merely quoting Lyndon Johnson …

Not once was it spoken with connotations of contempt.

In the 50s and before "nigger" was simply the way a southern accent rendered the word "Negro" which was the required word in the nawth. Around Birmingham the word was pronoounced "Nigra" but still spelled n-e-g-r-o. In the sixties southerners forced their mouths to pronounce "Knee Grow" but by then the semiannual required change of terminology had rendered knee grow offensive. After being required to use "black" and "African-American" then "Afro-American etc. etc. many southerners gave up and returned to the old pronunciation or refused to talk to or about the people they had been friends and colleagues with before. Now we have come to the ultimate restriction- anything at all that a Southern white non Progressive person says is offensive and racist.

The Col was from Corbin, Ky. I protested in support of the Freedom Riders at the Trailways (or was it Greyhound? Do not remember) bus station in Corbin. Several guns were poked in my face and I was asked if I knew why there were no niggers in Corbin. The accused said, because the last one who lived here was hung from a tree by the neck. It was not a nice place to live but it was the Colonel’s home town.
Jesse Jackson later told me that the SCLC was concerned about my protest. “If you had been shot we would have died in Corbin,” he said.

If ‘people’ were REALLY concerned, they would NOT produce records, air the records on Radio & TV, make CDs(??) etc etc for ANYTHING with so called ‘damnable’ language or phrases in it.

THEN sit back and stock up on popcorn.

Remember when NFL BANNED the N word on ANY of their properties etc (after a player claimed a ref supposedly used the N word on the field) and the Players Union jumped up and said it was just another chain on the Black players as THEY WERE THE ONLY ONES THAT DARE USE IT?

This all goes back to the days when your old man said he would “beat you till you cried” THEN “beat you for crying”.

An unwinnable ‘fight’.

Several years ago a couple of the young black Airmen with whom I worked asked me to recite lyrics to a rap song they had pulled up on a smart phone. Not only did I oblige, but when I came to the inevitable “nigger,” I enunciated it out loud in stilted tones. The reaction to hearing a white man say “nigger” was priceless. I thought they would die laughing. And no one was offended.

You mean Peter Brady wrote that article?

Oh, and it must've been really dark in the Schnatter's broom closet. How did John manage to work in there?

This new Christopher Knight seems quite a character.

He made this pic and has it on his blog.
