COLUMBUS, Ohio--This summer, the eyes of the political world were supposed to be focused on the special-election battle for the 12th Congressional District in Central Ohio.

The election is scheduled for Aug. 7, a time when little else is on the national political calendar. And how Democrat Danny O'Connor does in the Republican-leaning district was supposed to give an indication of how his party will fare in the November midterms.

It’s a pretty strong repub district that wiki says is historically R+7

The republican is winning, so the dems’ best bet is to downplay and hope for a low turnout surprise victory

I didn’t see this when I posted my thread on GOP fundraising, where I showed that there are now 5 house seats that were considered “gettable” all trending R. This would make six.

I live in this District. It should be Republican + 25 District but it is loaded with well-to-do soccer moms who have their head up their butts

Because when push comes to shove it’s a LOCAL election and by and large Americans can barely give a crap about their own local elections forget anybody else’s. Yeah sure sometimes the “news” networks get obsessed but Americans mostly don’t care.

"... but it is loaded with well-to-do soccer moms who have their head up their butts."

You should try getting a letter past the local fish-wrapper editors, and talk / write about the benefits of a "glass-ectomy."

Something along the lines:

Yes, it's obvious, even to the most casual observer, you (the women with their heads up their collective butts) are infected with Cranium Rectal Disorder, and in need of a Glass-ectomy.

A glass-ectomy is when you cut your bellybutton out and put a piece of glass in there so when you have your head up your a$$, you can see where you’re going.

Just a thought or two.

I was thinking more along the lines of getting them to connect the dots regarding their relative prosperity. Then it comes from a society that honors the very things that they are voting against

There's a high rate of Demwit absentee ballot requests, it sez elsewhere -- which is interesting, I didn't know one had to request absentee ballots by party. Thanks napscoordinator.

These special elections are much more favorable to the democrats. Most people do not even know about them, but the democrat machine is totally plugged into them. I wish we had a amendment to our state constitution that no levies can be voted on outside of the two year election cycle.

What exactly is the point of a special election 3 months before a general election? Does the new rep run again in 3 mos? If so that’s a serious waste of money
