Reason: Weinstein was a highly successful "bundler" of contributions from the entertainment industry to the Democratic Party. As such, once Weinstein was disgraced, the Democratic Party rightfully feared that the "gravy train" of money from entertainment celebrities would come to an end, if not severely cut back.
