American steel workers at Banner Metals — which distributes metals — said they support Trump’s fair trade agenda wherein the populist president has placed a 25 percent tariff on imported steel and a ten percent tariff on imported aluminum.
Bronson Jones, who co-owns Banner Metals, told the Times‘ Nelson Schwartz that he sees the tariffs and Trump’s moves to hold China accountable on trade as a benefit to the American economy in the long term.
“I’m not looking at what’s best for Banner right now. I’m looking at what’s best for the national economy,” Jones said. “The U.S. has been taken advantage of for too long.”
U.S. free trade with Mexico, alone, has cost Ohio tens of thousands of American jobs. About 34,900 American workers have been displaced in the state because of free trade with Mexico.

what folks have to understand is that this is bargaining
if nothing is done, we will remain stuck with outdated and in some instances pretty bad trade agreements

Yep......Trumps willing to take the heat for the long term results. ...we’ll all have some skin in the changes he’s making before this ship is on a smooth course.
Having been on that side .....Unions have only one concern, that their coffers continue to have a steady flow of revenue so they can use it in elections. They have zero concern for the workers. It’s all about the power of cash flow and how they can use it.

Psychological at best. Obviously the Janus decision only affected public sector unions, but perhaps it will motivate more private sector people to stand up to the a-holes running their unions, or opt out where they can.
