Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., defended former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden and appeared to obliquely rebuke a legal opinion written by Brett Kavanaugh hours before meeting the Supreme Court nominee.
The Kentucky Republican, a swing vote whose opposition could block Kavanaugh, was not pressed for his views on the nomination during a Tuesday event hosted by the Fund for American Studies. But one student asked about Snowden, who exposed the NSA's bulk collection of domestic call records a program at the heart of Paul's unease with Kavanaugh.
"He didn't sell secrets to the Russians, he wasn't a traitor. He revealed something that revealed the highest ranking member of our intelligence community lied. I think he did it as a whistle-blower, he was reporting malfeasance," Paul said.

I’m conflicted. Definitely wasn’t a fan of Snowden before, but after seeing the total abuse of power from the likes of Clapper, Comey, Brennan, Strzok, (our “trusted intelligence community”) and much of the Obama regime, I have also come to believe much of the deep state is actively trying to destroy the Constitution.
I don’t take any part of the Snowden myth at face value.
I simply look at the evidence. And the evidence shows that people at the highest levels of the US government were betraying the Constitution left and right, while lying to the American people all along.
We don’t have a Republic if the people are not informed of vital information necessary to make major policy decisions, such as high ranking officials deciding on their own that the 4th Amendment does not apply to them.
What is going on? Am I falling in love with Rand Paul? How do you stop this crazy thing?
There is so much evidence vindicating Snowden at this point. We are owned by an oligarchy controlling our government from within. We see it now and we are fighting back but they have the more gullible Americans sucking off their teats and ready to pitchfork those of us who see we are owned.
I always liked Rand Paul. Maybe it's the libertarian in me.
Even when he's a pain-in-the-ass, at least he's a principled pain-in-the-ass.
haha. Rand is doing pretty well for himself these days for sure.
Yep. Considering he almost died twice in a year.
Snowden has done some good and some harm.
Yes, Snowden is a hero!
