I think most women and men mellow out as they get older. I also think as men and women age, women enjoy being alone and are not looking for someone while men seem to want the companionship more. I don’t like generalizations, but in this case it’s my observation.

As people age, they become more realistic and have self reliant. Expectations are fewer because they’ve already figured out how to live alone peacefully. I think that is really key. If a person (men and women) are peaceful alone and self reliant, than a partner is complimentary. Expectations of another person just leads to disappointments and stress.

If a woman you are in a relationship with shows contempt for you, save everyone’s time & money by ending the relationship.

Thanks for your post. Lots of good observations and, fwiw, I see the same things, too, both with others and within my self.

As a fwiw, because of how I grew up, being alone hasn’t bothered me too much until recently, since my mom passed.

During her last few years, she always had one of my sisters and/or me with her, so she was never alone.

But I don’t have anyone and, whenever I think of us being there for her, my being alone now bothers me a little bit.

I guess I need to step up my game. Time waits for no one, especially late bloomers like me.
