Sen. Joe Donnelly (Ind.) on Tuesday became the second Democrat to publicly announce that they will meet with Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump's latest Supreme Court nominee.

Donnelly will meet with Kavanaugh on August 15, according to his office.

"Donnelly has consistently said he would carefully review and consider Judge Kavanaugh’s record, meet with him, and follow his confirmation hearing," his office said in a press release.

Donnelly's announcement comes after Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) said on Monday that he will meet with Kavanaugh next week, becoming the first known meeting between Trump's nominee and a Democratic senator.

He’s up for re-election in a Trump state. He’ll do anything.

Just by agreeing to meet with Judge Kavanaugh, Senators Donnelly and Manchin have angered Chuck Schumer, not to mention Democratic voters in their states.

And since 90 percent of Republicans support Donald Trump, it’s unlikely the two Senators will pick up many Republican votes even if they decide to approve Judge Kavanaugh.

So what are the Senators thinking?

Kammy is going to find herself alone, the only holdout refusing to even meet the SCOTUS candidate.
This is strictly government business, Ms Harris.
You can meet with him briefly, civilly, then go back to playing ‘The Angry Black Woman’ on your off hours.
Deal?

“So what are the Senators thinking?”

They are “thinking” that their only chance at re-election is being seen by enough Republican voters as being somewhat rational, and relying on their incumbency to have a positive impact on their election. But it’s a “Hobson’s choice,” because if they act semi-rationally when it comes to Kavanaugh, they will pi$$ off the hard leftists in their party who will likely stay home. So much to say, they are both very likely to loose no matter what they “think!”

Yes, and he is a supposed pro-life Catholic. I don’t see how he can vote against Kav and keep his seat.

I moved here (east of Evansville) in December from the Indianapolis area. Trump has a yuge following down here with the mines, refineries and factories opening back up and expanding. He has literally thrown small town America a life line and they know it.

Donnelly won his seat in Indiana by supposedly being pro-life, now it is put up or shut up time. If he votes against confirmation he is exposed as a phony and will lose.

It's hard to believe that Indianapolis was voted the best big city a decade or two ago. I don't remember when exactly.

Most of my family is in the Elkhart area. They all hate South Bend.
