Five decades after anti-war activists and Chicago police clashed in a dramatic sequence of protests that took place in the city during the August 1968 Democratic National Convention, another generation of pacifists are planning a demonstration against “war and police violence.”

“We are not aiming for a nostalgia event,” said Andy Thayer of the Chicago Committee Against War and Racism, which is organizing the coming protest, slated for Aug. 25.

The left always talks about how conservatives want to go back to the ‘repressive times of the 50’s’. However, they are the ones that want to go back in time. They want to go back and re-live their two big wins, the anti war movement of the 60’s and Watergate.

Maybe they can start singing, ‘Tin Soldiers Nixon coming, four dead in Ohio...’

Will these fools admit that the phony, Nobel-Peace Prize Obama cause more wars and misery abroad than any President since LBJ?

Obama was merely a media hologram and product of a media and marketing campaign , meant to fool low-IQ leftists and suburban soccer moms with his candidacy, who turned out to actually be a puppet of the DC Deep State.

Obama was directly responsible for starting the proxy civil war in the Ukraine, assassinating Khaddafy and turning Libya into a failed state, the largest human migration to Europe since WWII, the destructive civil war in Syria, and a host of other conflicts, from Yemen to the Sudan.

On January 31, 1971, members of Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) met in a Detroit hotel to discuss war crimes they claimed to have participated in or witnessed during their combat tours in Vietnam. During the next three days, more than 100 Vietnam veterans and 16 civilians gave anguished, emotional testimony describing hundreds of atrocities against innocent civilians in South Vietnam, including rape, arson, torture, murder, and the shelling or napalming of entire villages. The witnesses stated that these acts were being committed casually and routinely, under orders, as a matter of policy.

In April, the VVAW stormed Washington in a week-long protest. At its height, spokesman John Kerry went before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to accuse the United States military of committing massive numbers of war crimes in Vietnam. The appearance launched Kerry's political career. The charges he made shocked and sickened a nation, changed the course of a war and stained the reputation of the American military for decades.

But the mass murder of civilians was never American policy in Vietnam. War crimes were the exception, not the rule. And the Winter Soldier tribunal itself -- which John Kerry had helped moderate -- turned out to be "packed with pretenders and liars."

I guess we’ll hear the same stupid chants like “Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah!”

Brainless, unoriginal idiots. They haven’t come up with any new ones in 50 years.

Hmmmm. Maybe I haven’t been keeping up on current events as well as I thought. Who are we at war with? Where are American servicemen regularly coming home in body bags from?

The 1968 rioters were more committed to their cause than today's masked cowards. They were also more photogenic.

I am old enough to remember the 1968 riots. I also remember the 1968 presidential election that followed the riots. I seem to recall that the democrat candidate did not do so well that year.

Anti-war activism in the '60s was fed by the draft.

When Nixon instituted the draft lottery, 2/3 previously subject to the draft were exempt and that took a lot of air out of the movement.

Note that they call themselves the Chicago Committee Against War and Racism.

That last part will give them free reign to go anywhere, and do anything. No limits.

But Nixon won in 1968...

USA Today’s commemorative edition of the year has 1968 ignored that fact.

With over 50,000 sealed indictments we are at war with criminals in the USA. There will be lots of red herrings to distract voters and try to get votes for the DemonicRATS
