Per this article:

https://www.gohawaii.com/experiences/sightseeing/Volcanoes

There are three active volcanoes in Hawaii. Two on the big island that I mentioned and one underwater. Per this article:

https://www.hawaii-guide.com/kauai/articles/kauai_faq

Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian islands and has no active volcanoes. The article in this thread says that she is on Kauai.

I’d think that rents should be pretty cheap right now if you are willing to relocate to the SE coast of the Big Island. Dramatic views are free.

I don’t think Millennials know what it’s like to really work.

Millennials were gifted a massive giant debt s**t sandwich by their Baby Boomer parents. I hope there's retribution in store.

"Lazy Millennials don't know how to work!" whines the generation that paid less than five grand for a college degree, $50,000 for a new home, $4,000 for a new car, and a $200 hospital bill to have a child.

they can't yet appreciate what it would mean to have a reduced, or even no SS benefit when they retire.

Are you joking? There's not going to be SS benefits for Millennials. Millennials aren't going to retire. They'll work until they're dead or hospitalized. They might as well enjoy life now.

From the article you cited:

" The last set of eruptions on Kauai occurred between 1.41-1.43 million years ago"

If I were her, I would feel pretty confident that there will be no volcano eruptions on Kauai....

Well, if you take that stance, you can’t “miss” what you never had. Even without SS, why would you NOT save for retirement someday?

No offense, but with the way things are these days at workplaces ranging from drama to the backstabbing I just feel the satisfaction of surviving another day.

Nice work if you can get it. Is she a trust fund baby? Living in Hawaii is super expensive. I’ll bet she’s intolerable to be around, to anyone but other bums just like her.

Millenials have a good attitude in that they are into experiences/travel more than possessions. A lot of them own very little besides a phone. laptop and some clothes.

They are also often living like 20yos well into their 30s. I think a lot of them will have a hard time retiring as they aren’t buying houses or investing as much as previous generations AFAICT.

I didn’t really start saving money until I was in my 30s - I see the millenials being about 20 years behind the curve investment wise.

I was wonderful by the same thing: burnt out from dressing up and going to parties as part of work?

Two weeks a year vacation is pretty standard for young employees. And she couldn’t have worked for long if she’s all of 25 now. Where I work, new hires get one week!
