And, maybe I'm misreading this, but is the ALCU actually arguing that proof of residency within a school district is no longer required to enroll a child in any school? So a parent can enroll a child in the school of the parent's choosing instead of an assigned school district?
Take it to the Supreme Court. By the time it gets there, Ruth Ginsburg will have been replaced. LOL!
This would’ve been good to know when my parents struggled to afford a house in a “better” school district when I was growing up.
I believe it is not about furnishing proof of residence; it is about requiring additional documents that illegal invaders wouldn’t have. The disgraceful part is that many illegals live in illegally converted apartments (as many single-family homes have more space than needed for cohabitating childless adults with only pets); the property taxes in these cases aren’t even paying for the schooling of the anchor babies residing illegally there.
Residency is absolutely still a requirement; they are still successfully suing parents for putting their children into other districts (to recoup costs).
See #4; the problem is that the illegals are the only ones breeding in the “better” districts now (American children are rapidly disappearing in NJ - like Americans themselves). They still have to live in the district to legally attend the schools there; they just don’t have to live IN THE COUNTRY legally to use the schools.
The ACLU is the mechanism that the Left legislates through the judiciary. It is an evil institution masquerading as promoters of civil liberties. When Democrats are elected they appoint judges that cooperate with these America haters.

Since, by its name, this group is a union for the civil liberties of Americans why are they worried about non-Americans?
I thought the A in ACLU was for “American”.

The gist of the topic is that if NJ passes any law requiring ID to confirm legal rights to a service (public schools), then they would have evidence of NJ public schools aiding and abetting illegal aliens, which is a Federal law, and will supersede the errant NJ legislation.
My parents had to provide birth certificates & ID for all of us 4 kids-—and WE went to a one room school 1/2 mile from our farm.
In the cities, it has always been “provide ID”.
We must destroy these people before they destroy the country....the American Left have shown their hand, now make them own it.
