How the right wing got it so wrong on the ‘Pakistani mystery man’
Washington Post ^ | 7//18/18 | Steve Israel

Posted on 07/27/2018 4:59:51 PM PDT by Libloather

This is the story of a congressional staffer who committed a crime, and a larger crime that was committed against him. It’s a story of a fever on Capitol Hill, spiked by right-wing extremists with help from President Trump.

Last year, a congressional information-technology staffer who worked for more than a dozen Democratic members of Congress (a permissible and customary practice on Capitol Hill) was suspected of using multiple usernames and passwords to skirt House rules and purchase office items. This isn’t exactly the stuff of gripping television crime drama. But rules were broken and the staffer, along with four other House IT staffers who were relatives or friends, were denied access to the systems.

Maybe if the staffer’s name was Ed Smith, this would have been the end of a fairly uninteresting story. But the United States is in the white-knuckled grip of a xenophobic president and his base, and this congressional staffer had made one grave mistake, or at least his parents had: He was named Imran Awan. He is a Pakistani American who had access to computers in congressional offices.

Correction: An earlier version of this column misstated the reported purpose of home equity loans sought by Imran Awan. Awan's lawyer told the New York Times that Awan sought the loan to provide money to relatives in Pakistan to assist his father, not that the loan was meant to pay his father's medical bills. The version below has been corrected.

Uh, oh. Can Trump get away with this? Will Hillary have an opinion? Stay tuned...

Pay no attention to the extraordinarily high salaries Awan and his cohorts had. Including those with no IT experience. Don’t worry about the money in suitcases being shipped overseas.

Pay no attention to the fact that Steve Israel is a former Dem congressman.

Oh, so we’re racists because of our awful accusation against the poor Awan clan. That they were shown to have committed bank fraud is the very least of their crimes. There is no way I could even complete a list of what they are very plausibly accused of, they are plenty well known.

With only a moderate imagination, it’s very plausible that the Awans were feeding every bit of intelligence of any sort from the 35+ congresspeople whose email accounts they had total access to. The 5500+ logons they did under their admin IDs, a good many of them from within the country of Pakistan might easily be construed to be “snooping” on Dem communications; no hacking necessary, THEY HAD the passwords.

The stolen computer hardware they had in their garage, that’s nothing.

The money they shipped to Africa, probably Al Queda or some variant, within the cars they transshipped, was the topic of a 2+ year investiagtoion by the FBI until they were instructed to “stand down” by (I forget) Jarrett or S. Rice.

What a blithering shithead traitor Steve Israel is. This whole Awan affair has serious potential to be among the top ten espionage cases of all time.

It still smells like a cover-up and you just got to ask why?

Yes, the Deep State has gone out of their way to say “nothing bad happened.” What if a Muslim spy from Pakistan was a paid IT person with access to all the Democratic Party House computers? Could our intelligence community ever admit that happened or would too many political heads have to roll?

It smells like a cover-up.

The Investigative Project on Terrorism has learned that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi headlined a Democratic Party fundraiser with leaders of Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood front groups in May of this year. The invitation-only fundraiser was sponsored by Reps. Keith Ellison, D-Minn.; Andre Carson, D-Ind.; and Steve Israel, D-N.Y., chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and took place on the evening of May 16, 2012, at the W Hotel in Washington D.C. In attendance were about 20 members of a Syrian dissident group and 10 officials representing Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas front groups.

Wash/Po even got its correction wrong:

An earlier version of the W/P column misstated the reported purpose of home equity loans sought from the Congressional bank by Democrat IT staffer, Imran Awan. Awan's lawyer told the NYT that Awan sought the loan to provide money to relatives in Pakistan to assist his father, not that the loan was meant to pay his father's medical bills. Wash/Po states they printed a corrected version.

July 3, 2018 IMRAN AWAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MAKING
FALSE STATEMENT ON APPLICATION FOR HOME EQUITY LOAN
Falsely Claimed Property Was Not Being Rented

WASHINGTON – Imran Awan, 38, of Alexandria, Va., pled guilty today to a federal charge stemming from a false statement made on a home equity loan, announced U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Liu, Matthew R. Verderosa, Chief of the United States Capitol Police, and Matthew J. DeSarno, Special Agent in Charge, of the FBI Washington Field Office’s Criminal Division Awan pled guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to making false statements on a loan or credit application. The charge carries a statutory maximum of 30 years in prison. Under federal sentencing guidelines, he faces a likely range of zero to six months of incarceration. The Honorable Tanya S. Chutkan scheduled sentencing for Aug. 21, 2018.

According to plea documents filed today, on Dec. 12, 2016, while in the District of Columbia, Awan submitted an online application in the name of his wife, Hina Alvi, to a credit union for a home equity line of credit on a property that she owned in Alexandria, Va. Awan made a material misrepresentation in the application by stating that the property was his wife’s primary residence and not a rental property. In fact, she was renting the property to tenants at the time. Awan made the misrepresentation because the credit union had a policy of not extending home equity lines of credit on rental properties. On Jan. 5, 2017, the credit union offered a home equity line of credit of $165,000. Then, between Jan. 12 and Jan. 18, 2017, the credit union transferred $165,000 into the account. Awan paid off the balance on Jan. 18, 2017.

Awan and his wife were indicted on federal charges related to the loan in August 2017. Both had pled not guilty to the charges. Under the plea agreement with Awan, the government agreed to ask the Court to dismiss all charges against Alvi at the time that Awan is sentenced. This case was investigated by the U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI’s Washington Field Office. It is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. —-

Earlier data indicates Imran was quite the landowner and operator.

HAT TIP LUKE ROSIAK, DAILY CALLER

The Awans owned numerous homes that operated as rental properties.
Interviews w/ tenants revealed the Awans demanded cash or blank money orders as rental payments.

DEMOCRATS’ IT, IMRAN AWAN, FINDS TIME TO BROKER REAL ESTATE-—Virginia licensing documents show that Imran Awan became a licensed real estate broker during the time period he was earning $160,000 tax dollars from House Democrats. The licensing process requires certifying that the applicant was working “an average of at least 40 hours per week” as a real estate agent at the time. Brokers typically supervise real estate agents and handle large amounts of money.

HAT TIP PTSAL—— All of the Awan’s property record data, appraisals, home inspections, title reports, mortgage applications, escrow disbursement records, etc. are archived in the cloud. IMHO, many people KNEW and used nuanced language in their reports that avoided words that would trigger an audit. At the lowest level start w/ the appraisers because these licensed professions had to physically inspect these properties owned by the AWANS.

EXHIBIT B——The scam Imran Awan pulled at the Congressional Federal Credit Union
for which he is under indictment has the potential to open a can of worms.

<><> there is a paper trial——Imran’s loans should be well-documented.

<><> One document to be examined is the appraisal, particularly the FORM NUMBER of the appraisal.

<><>A home appraisal would be on one form, while an income property would be on another.

<><> Falsifications here starts to unravel the story.

<><>The appraiser is obligated to archive the file for five years. Many appraiser are archived on the cloud with national data services.

<><>The Awans apparently had a number of facilitators. Is there any commonality in the service providers associated with the multiple property purchases that are reportedly associated with the Awan clan? Real estate agent, title company, escrow, closing attorney, appraiser, home inspector, etc. So many of these folks have been on-site and seen something, IMHO.

<><> important to know that appraisers are regulated at the state-level.

Two sources said that in recent weeks, Imran has discussed providing third parties with money and having them travel to New York City to buy and return with a 1-kilogram gold bar. “He wants to hide his money,” one source said in relation to the gold.

(NOTE better check Imran’s toothpaste——one thief turned his money into diamonds and stuffed them in a toothpaste tube to get it out of the USA.)

An even bigger mystery than how they got here is how the shady Pakis as criminal suspects got visas to abscond.

Did "someone" with a lot of political pull facilitate the visas to help them abscond?

Some reports say the Pakis traveled on WH visas.

==============================

HOW THE HOUSE DEMOCRAT IT SCAM WORKED: CDW Government, Inc (approved tech supplier to the US govt) knowingly accepted falsified invoices from House Democrats who employed the Awans. The invoices routinely showed high-priced tech items falsely billed at just under the $500.00 ......the cutoff rule that kept the purchases off the House tracking radar.

<><> CDW Government, Inc then made up the difference in the actual price by rigging the cost of a service plan.

<><> More shockingly, CDW Government Inc. then shipped the equipment..... not to the Congressional office that ordered it...... but to Imran’s house.

=================================

Could be major kickbacks involved. The paper trail is readily available.

Cong Yvette Clarke is the only Democrat implicated to date. All of the House Democrats that employed the Awans should be audited and complete investigations of their IT transactions, as well as House office and financial records should commence:

<><> payroll, vouchers, expense accounts, office expenditures,

<><> travel itinerary, credit card accounts, family finances,

<><> campaign income and outgo,

<><>personal/office/campaign bank accounts,

<><> wire-transfers, snail mail, email, UPS packages,

<><> electronic devices, hard drives, spreadsheets, text files, etc etc etc.

Why are IT consultants allowed in to the highest rank of government offices, without any proper scrutiny?

... 80 years ago spies were stashing intel documents in pumpkins. Now House Democrats simply Congress hire
the spies as IT’s, pay them millions of our tax dollars, and look the other way as the Pakis compromise US intel, and
House Democrat constituent communications.....

AND THIS SHOCKER-—IMRAN AWAN, US GOVT EMPLOYEE, WORKED HOUSE INTEL IN PAKISTAN-—
and not one of his employers-—all House Democrats-— reported the incident

Cong Louis Gohmert (Repub-Texas), a former judge, was shocked to learn that Imran Awan conducted the Congress of the United States’ IT work in Pakistan, for months at a time, without supervision.
GOHMERT: “I did not realize that we (taxpayers) paid someone the maximum that any House employee could get paid........ and for months at a time, he was handling information technology for the House of Representatives from Pakistan. This is just mind-boggling. I had no idea anybody would even think about trying to do something like that,” Gohmert added.

Imran is a US govt employee. He cashes US govt paychecks. He’s handling Congressional data——sensitive top secret data-—he’s in an active terrorist country for months at a time handling US intel without supervision. Yet his mentor and employer Democrat Debbie Wasserman Schultz did nothing. Congressional Democrats who employed Imran said nothing.
Taxpayers must demand answers:

<><> How did Awan get a sensitive job in the US Congress?
<><> Was he given preference over American job-seekers?

APRIL 2016 THE PAKI SCAM IS UNVEILED-—Alarm bells went off when House computer security officials reported “irregularities” in computer equipment purchasing......specifically, the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars in US government property. The initial evidence pointed to (a) five Paki IT staffers, and, (b) Congressional Democrats that employed them.

The Paki scam quickly exploded into:
<><> (A) multiple charges of conspiracy against the United States of America,
<><>(B) double-billing Congress,
<><> (C) placing ghost employees on the govt payroll,
<><> (D) stealing govt issue electronics,
<><>(E) submitting falsified documents to the US govt,
<><> (F) mortgage scams,
<><>(G) shady wire transfers to Pakistan, and,
<><>(H) Congressional bank fraud.
Democrats hired this bunch to boost their “diversity” credentials....sucking up for votes is never far from their small minds.
<><> Claiming to be a naturalized American citizen, did he falsify his credentials?
<><> did Democrat Debbie Wassermann Schultz sign-off on Imran’s trips to Pakistan?
<><> did Democrat Schultz inform others that Imran conducted IT work for the House in Pakistan?
<><> did Democrats inform constituents their emails were being accessed in a terrorist-sponsored country?
<><> why did Debbie Wasserman Schultz keep Imran on as her “advisor” after his shady deals were exposed?

Meet the Muslim Democrat Congressman with a stranglehold on your safety and security.

Here's the shocking list of Congressional committees under the control of Indiana Democrat Andre Carson.

NOTE--The DNC places a price on these committees---Congressman wishing to be placed on the committee pay up front. Where did Muslim Carson get the money to get on these highly sensitive committees? Is Carson funneling Islamic cash into the DNC? Do his Indiana constituents know Carson bought these seats?

CARSON'S COMMITTEES

<><>House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI)

<><>Ranking Member: Emerging Threats Subcommittee

<><>Department of Defense Intelligence and Overhead Architecture Subcommittee

<><>The United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) is a committee of the United States House of Representatives.

The HPSCI is charged with the oversight of the United States Intelligence Community, which includes the intelligence and intelligence related activities of 17 elements of the US Government, and the Military Intelligence Program. Additional information about the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) can be found at link.

<><>Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure

<><> Subcommittee on Aviation

<><> Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials

NOTE The Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure oversees all modes of transportation: aviation, maritime and waterborne transportation, highways, bridges, mass transit, and railroads.

The Committee also has jurisdiction over other aspects of our national infrastructure, such as clean water and waste water management, the transport of resources by pipeline, flood damage reduction, the management of federally owned real estate and public buildings, the development of economically depressed rural and urban areas, disaster preparedness and response, and hazardous materials transportation.

<><>Subcommittee on Aviation---- The subcommittee has jurisdiction over civil aviation, including most aspects of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Transportation Security Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board.

<><> Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials The Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials exercises jurisdiction over the programs and activities of two U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) modal administrations, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).

The Subcommittee oversees the passenger and freight rail safety and economic regulations including all federal laws and programs regulating railroad transportation, including railroad safety, rail infrastructure programs, economic regulation, railroad labor laws, and the non-revenue aspects of the federal railroad retirement and railroad unemployment systems.

The jurisdiction of the Subcommittee also includes overseeing all federal laws and programs regulating the safety of gas and liquid pipelines.

ANALYSIS Usually Congressman choose committees that help their districts and their constituents.
Does Indiana need copious amts of US intel and....plans for all of our critical infrastructures, that Carson opted for?

REFERENCE----Pelosi to name first Muslim lawmaker to House intelligence committee
By LAUREN FRENCH 01/13/2015 01/13/2015

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced in a closed-door meeting Tuesday she would name the first Muslim lawmaker to the House’s Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. A senior Democratic aide said Rep. André Carson of Indiana would be named in the “coming days” to the key national security-focused panel. Pelosi (D-Calif.) told lawmakers of the appointment during the members’ weekly caucus meeting.

Carson would be the first Muslim to serve on the committee and was the second Muslim to be elected to Congress. He already serves on the Armed Services Committee and worked for the Department of Homeland Security’s Fusion Center — the clearinghouse established by the federal government to streamline data sharing between the CIA, FBI, Department of Justice and the military.

The intelligence committee will most likely tackle a series of high-profile international crises during the 114th Congress, including the threat of Islamic militants and Ukraine.

Carson’s office didn’t immediately return a request for comment. The announcement comes in the wake of last week’s terrorist attack by Islamic extremists and subsequent shootouts with police that left 17 people dead. World leaders gathered on Sunday for a 1 million person “solidarity” protest against the violence that targeted French Jews and journalists.

================================

Trump needs to act on this subito. Speaker Ryan has the power ro remove Carson from these committees
What does DNC co-chair Ellison and Pelosi know about Muslims secretly funneling money into the DNC?
