Trump fires up the charm with Downstate steel workers: ‘I could be one of you’
Chicago Sun Times ^ | July 28, 2018 | Neil Steinberg

Posted on 07/28/2018 6:57:36 PM PDT by 11th_VA

“We need steel,” he said. “We need steel plants. And to see an old, big monster plant like this re-opening — that is an honor. I look at the faces of you people; I could be one of you. I like you guys. I could be one of you.”

That struck me as either sincere or an amazing facsimile. The workers, for their part, couldn’t give him a standing ovation because they never sat down.

I left the hall thinking: Donald Trump is going to be re-elected in 2020. The Democrats don’t have anyone who can touch him. Bank on it. Don’t hate me for being the one to tell you.

And well... as I keep trying to tell people too... there is a whale of a difference between being liberal and being profligate. We shouldn’t even call them liberals. We should call them profligates. What used to be based on a Judeo-Christian ideal of liberality has gone so profligate it isn’t even funny anymore.

In 2016, Steinberg attempted to purchase an AR-15 rifle to demonstrate how fast and easy a person could obtain one. He was subsequently denied the purchase for a history of alcohol abuse and a domestic battery charge.

Dunno...Trump will have a tough time against the latest Shiny Communist:

Q: "How are going to pay for the trillions of dollars in spending for all the free stuff your are proposing?"

A: "This is an excellent, excellent question. I sat down with a Nobel Prize economist last week – I can't believe I can say that, it's really weird – But one of the things that we saw is, if people pay their fair share, if corporations and the ultra wealthy – for example, as Warren Buffett likes to say, if he pays as much as his secretary paid, 15 percent tax rate, if corporations paid – if we reverse the tax bill, raised our corporate tax rate to 28 percent ... if we do those two things and also close some of those loopholes, that's $2 trillion right there.

"It will take $3 trillion to $4 trillion and a carbon tax to create a 'renewable energy economy'. The Trump tax cut bill prevents the wealthiest Americans from paying 'their fair share.' "One of the wide estimates is that it's going to take $3 trillion to $4 trillion to transition us to 100 percent renewable economy."

Speaking of charm, my two brothers had a private meeting with Trump 12 years ago in NYC about a possible joint venture. They told me that he was a very polite, gracious and charming host.

He seems to have two personae, a public and private one. He’s fundamentally a good person.

Donald J Trump not only has amazing policies towards economy, immigration and trade deficits, No other president in my lifetime of almost 8 decades have I ever seen a president able to attract 10,000 enthusiastic people to 100+ rallies, and keep them engaged for up to 2 hours, No one leaves during the rally, and the love between him audience is on display.

Trump is honest because he is an American. The Deep State is dishonest, well because that is it’s primary function, but besides all that, the Deep Staters are Globalist.

I’ve been to two Trump rallies during the campaign. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him the whole time he spoke. He has an incredible force of presence.

Madison County, where this steel mill is located, is a long-time Democrat stronghold. It has gone Republican the last two presidential and gubernatorial elections, and now has a Republican majority on the county board for the first time in a long time, maybe ever.
