Thank goodness for songs like that which gained great fame and popularity. Even the left would be hard-pressed to send it down the memory hole. More likely, they’d just try to co-opt it in some way, just as they’ve tried to do with Christianity, and, with success, country music itself. They try to co-opt the outlaws (and that dimwit Nelson, the tax dodger, gives them an opening-you’d think they’d be pizzed that he didn’t like paying his “fair share”-but I don’t think they could ever find a way to co-opt Waylon, and certainly not Hank Jr).
