This is a sad story about a family who was forced to sell their Children's Playhouse Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and move to smaller market in Idaho where the local theater scene is not (hopefully) dominated by the Gay mafia.

For two years, this devout Christian family brought low priced family friendly entertainment to a liberal neighborhood in Pittsburgh until they ran afoul of the local LGBT mafia for refusing to rewrite a scene to make a gay couple the centerpiece. (For the record, they weren't even refusing to have gay dads in the musical, just to make them the centerpiece.)

this seems like a difficult situation. not clear to me from reading all the facebook banter as to what the show script actually requires. it “seems” that maybe the script calls for the “gay” couple? and the theater company said “no”? if that is the case, then they chose the show poorly.

if it is the case that they show doesn’t have any gay stuff in it, and the LG etc. folks are demanding it...then....yikes. that is truly frightening.

i’m very sympathetic to Christians in the arts (and conservatives in the arts, and libertarians in the arts...). they have a very difficult road and I admire them for not just rolling over and giving up.

If they made a mistake at all, it was in reaching out to the local theater community to include them in the founding of the play house. The scene in question involves a crowd scene in a public park with various types of families which, since it is in New York, includes the mandatory gay couple as just part of the background. The poofter director wants to rewrite the scene to make the gay dads the heroic centerpiece whereas the playhouse owners simply wanted it performed as written, thereby denying the poofter a proselyting opportunity and hurting his feelings.
