Italy Salvini Says Nation Doesn’t Create Children Will Die..Less Migrants (tr)

Italy’s new Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini is following Hungary’s Viktor Orbán in putting demographics at the heart of his programme, warning that a country which imports migrants instead of supporting families is “destined to die”. The League (Lega) leader, who heads one half of Italy’s new populist coalition government, set out his priorities in an interview with The Sunday Times at the historic Palazzo del Viminale in Rome.

“A country which does not create children is destined to die,” Salvini stated bluntly.

“We have created a ministry of the family to work on fertility, nurseries, on a fiscal system which takes large families into account. At the end of this mandate, the government will be measured on the number of newborns more than on its public debt,” he declared.

When I was a boy, most families had 3-4 children. Today, families have one child...if any.

What caused that? I think for the most part, it has been government policy of taxing the middle class to subsidize the lower class.

The only people who can afford to have big families are single women on welfare. The government will pay for EVERYTHING - by taxing the middle class to death.

Couples who feel financially stressed, who do not have reliable employment, will not have children.

Lots of causes to the lowered fertility rate; universal social security means we don’t have to rely on children to take care of us, industrialization means most of us live in more expensive urban settings, females are pursuing careers rather than families, our own culture mocks family values, progressive pessimism turns people away from childbearing out of fear (The world will end soon), sexuality means nothing anymore, and finally most of us live self centered lives. The average fermale needs to give birth to 2.1 children in order for a population to sustain itself. If you go lower than that a population will crash sooner than you think.

Create good jobs so that men can marry and support a family and stay at home Mom.

“Create good jobs so that men can marry and support a family and stay at home Mom.”

Easier said than done. One of Italy’s problems is they have a huge number of non-productive government jobs, intended to foster reliable votes, not economic development. It’s like Chicago, but on a country sized scale.

We also need to start honoring and supporting women who stay home and raise their children rather than shaming them into the workforce.

Males who ditch their women and kids in war zones and/or hellholes will not make great citizens and/or fathers, Salvini....

TIED in with abortion, is the area of birth control in general.

Birth control has become so accepted and widespread, that people who choose to limit family size will almost always succeed in doing so.

End abortion and contraception. Reduce the income tax rate for each new baby. Reinstitute rape as a serious crime with at least a long prison term.

Children are not allowed to work such as to add to the families’ net worth.

I’ve heard the same situation prevails in Japan. If women have no desire to have children, then, where does that leave a society?

We all know people who are experiencing such things. I will share a few of people I know. One young woman friend of the family has said she has no desire to ever get married. She’s had a couple of boyfriends here and there, but no desire to marry. She goes to China and Macch Picchu (sp?) and some other adventures regularly.

Another friend of the family, married daughter, has said she has no desire to have children. She’s into her career and also, they like to take vacations and are involved with charity work and other things, which according to them, they can’t fit children into their lives.

Yet another friend of the family, said she has gone to college and is working on a master’s, and that children are incompatible with a career, so no kids for her.

All of these people are in their 20s and early 30s, peak fertility years. All could change their minds later, but then, trying to get pregnant is more difficult the older the woman is.

It seems like an “irreconcilable difference”, in that people in their 20s, going to college, building careers etc, during those years, are precisely the years where females have high fertility if they ever want to have children.

I had four children. All good. I was the main breadwinner when I was married and after my husband left me we were better, because he wasn’t spending the money. Don’t judge people.

Maybe science needs to come up with a way to “hatch” babies like the Kryptonians did in the fictional Superman movies. Then raise them to a certain age so the parents, picked in some scientific way, can then raise them the rest of the way into adulthood. All so young people don’t have to be bothered to get pregnant and have babies themselves.

/s

On a more serious note; this dying of a society by not having enough babies is only partly true. Yes, there will be less citizens for a generation or more but that doesn’t mean it will stay that way. The worse thing to do is import some other culture and nationality to supplant the difference in baby numbers. The society will for sure be lost in one or two generations at the most. Especially if the fill-in baby makers are Muslim.

my niece is expecting her 5th...a good Catholic family, not rich but doing pretty well..

my other niece has 5...

my cousin who got married for the first and only time to his wife of 35, also never married, have 11 children...good Catholics...

a friend at work is on her 5th as well...but I think she's Mormon...

having big families does work and all these children are well behaved and smart...

marriage USED to be considered a vocation, just like being a priest or nun....

for some it still is..
