Two days before Marc Short — the former director of legislative affairs for President Donald Trump — begins his paid senior fellowship with the Miller Center at U.Va., History Profs. William Hitchcock and Melvyn Leffler announced their resignations from their professorships at the Center. Both professors will remain in their roles at the history department in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Short’s hiring drew widespread backlash from the University community, including over 2,500 signatures on multiple petitions.

In their letter to the Center’s Director William Antholis, the two professors wrote that the decision to hire Short “runs counter to the Center’s fundamental values.”

They’ll be better off without them.

In fact, Trump needs to hire folks just they can subsequently move on to positions in academia if Left wing twits will quit when they are hired, it would let us shake the tree for all these rotten, worm infested apples.

Historians are a dime a dozen, especially when they make up their own SWJ, etc. history to suit their political ideologies, etc.

Quit, but remain in their rolls. Typically regressive cowards.

If they resigned, why did they remain?

Has anyone bothered to ask these two 1)What are the Center's fundamental values? and 2)How would it run counter to those values? Be specific and use pictures if need be.

They had two jobs, one at the Miller center, and one their regular professorship. They retained their regular jobs, which I'm guessing is what pays the bulk of their salaries.

There are approximately 23K students and 10K employees (faculty and staff) at UVA main campus.

The combined petitions to keep him out got close to 2500 signatures.

Seems like, in ratio, not many care, or not many are even opposed to a former Trump admin person working there.

The whole thing is just a typical SJW faculty crybaby feet stamp.

If he was barred simply because he once worked for Trump, he would have grounds to sue UVA for discrimination for a lot more than he’ll currently make.

And UVA knows this.

They only resigned from the Center, not their professorships. THey are still brainwashing students at UVA with their virtue signaling. I seem to recall universities were to be fora for an open exchange of ideas.

Any many businesses in the U.S., you resign and you are walked to the door. No, not in liberal la-la land. How do you resign but “remain in your role”?

It’s like a liberal “hunger strike” that denies you breakfast two days a week with double servings at lunch on those two days.

Similarly, no one bothered to ask Obama specifically how he wanted to fundamentally change America. The left gets away with totally vague baloney statements. I remember when Martin O’Malley ran for governor on his campaign slogan BELIEVE. Since it was in Maryland, he won.

my guess these professors are intellectual frauds and don’t want to interact with a conservative that might call them out when out if they present misinformation.
