Out of Control: Without question, the IRS can be one of the most punitive and punishing of all federal agencies. A government running a chronic multi-trillion dollar debt needs every penny it can get.
But should American taxpayers have to shell out millions of dollars annually to pay shoddy, underperforming, and in many cases dishonest and threatening workers?
Apparently so.

I was kind of threatened by an IRS revenue agent once; right up to the point I informed him I was recording the call. Haven’t from the IRS again, EVER.
Cronyism is a major facet 0f “The Deep State”.
Its a self filling swamp.
If the "agent" called you, then it was a scammer pretending to be an agent. The IRS never calls. They send mail, often registered, or ask you visit their offices.
Send your concerns and comments to President Trump at his contact website! If hundreds of thousands contacted the President on this issue or any issue, I’m sure someone would bring it to his attention.
I had 2 women agent come to my house, both carrying a gun.
Time for another right wing purge? Why can no one touch the IRS?
Try calling the IRS. A half-hour wait time is SPEEDY service.
They will also show up with a padlock if you have any assets.
My brother hasn’t filed taxes in forever. They just routinely raid his bank account. He has no assets at all, not even a car.
I did not say the IRS called me. I called the IRS in response to two letters asking me to sign a contract agreeing to pay a certain amount of taxes based on an imputed level of income.
I asked this IRS agent a few basic questions I needed answers to related to my liability to pay income taxes based on my particular situation. That was 16 years ago and Ive never heard from the IRS again.
Excellent job of squelching the taxation despots.
I owed money to the feds for the year 2014 and the IRS kept sending me letter after letter saying I owed money even though I had a payment scheduled every month. They finally realized 3 people were sending me emails on the same case...
Next I received a letter from the IRS saying they had contacted the state. I received a letter from the state saying I owed money for 2014. I paid the 1st month online with no issue and the 2nd payment was this month. 2 weeks later I get a check back for that 2nd payment with no explanation.
Now in limbo waiting to see if I get my 1st payment back or another letter saying I did not pay....!
Flat tax and no need for the thousands of state and federal tax collectors.
the amount of money the IRS wanted me to pay based on their calculation wasn’t all that much in relative terms.
I informed this new revenue agent (under one year. Hey, I asked and he answered) that I needed to know the specific statute passed by Congress that required me to pay income taxes based on my situation. Not the IRS code or manual, but the actual statute.
I also told him such a statute doesn’t exist and that in a number of cases people who have been taken to tax court or prosecuted have demanded that the prosecution produce the statute requiring them to pay income taxes and then they would be willing to pay what was owed.
In every such case, the U.S. Attorneys have failed to do so; some even asking the judge to take judicial notice that such a law exists and disallow the question.
I continued on with this new IRS agent that if I was actually required to pay income taxes, why were they asking me to sign a contract to pay money I didn’t owe.
The last thing I told the IRS agent was that I knew he had a quota to collect a certain amount in revenue, I would not be worth the effort, and his time would be better spent on just about every other case.
