The recently departed head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) human resources department is under investigation for allegedly enabling sexual harassment in the agency over the course of several years.

FEMA Administrator Brock Long told The Washington Post that a seven-month investigation found Corey Coleman, who led the agency’s personnel department since 2011, hired dozens of friends and college fraternity brothers, as well as women he met at bars and through online dating sites.

Coleman promoted the individuals without going through the proper channels, and in some cases promoted or transferred women throughout the agency so his friends could try to have sexual relationships with them, a FEMA official told The Washington Post.

“FEMA Administrator Brock Long told The Washington Post that a seven-month investigation found Corey Coleman, who led the agency’s personnel department since 2011...”

You just wonder if it’s even possible for the Trump Administration to RIF all the Obola holdovers? I also wonder if this is a Civil Service or an appointive position?

Not guilty because of skin color and being an Obama appointee.

How many million FEMA $’s ended up in this criminal’s pockets instead of helping those need the $’s after a disaster.

I would suggest that he’s GS, and not some appointee. I might also imagine that if you go past 2011...what was his position in the five years prior and if he did the same thing during that period?

Will the guy be dismissed now?

Obama fired thousands of people from the Bush administration. Nobody batted an eyelash. I don’t think it’s illegal (unless a republican president tries to do it).

Our FBI/DOJ never investigated this criminal and never filed charges against him for a grand jury investigation.

Good comment by rfp1234: "Female Exploitation Management Agency."

By Paladin2: "It was an emergency."

Waiting for #MeToo to conduct massive demonstrations, and it seems that there should be a criminal investigation also.

some textCorey Coleman

Online records show Coleman was a senior executive who was paid an annual salary of $177,150.

In an interview, Long described a "toxic" environment in the human resources department under Coleman at FEMA headquarters. Starting in 2015, investigators said, Coleman hired many men who were friends and college fraternity brothers and women he met at bars and on online dating sites. He then promoted some of them to roles throughout the agency without going through proper federal hiring channels.

Coleman then transferred some of the women in and out of departments, some to regional offices, so his friends could try to have sexual relationships with them, according to employees' statements during interviews with investigators.

"What we uncovered was a systemic problem going back years," Long said. He said he has referred several of the cases to the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general, who oversees FEMA, to investigate possible criminal sexual assault.

"The biggest problem I may solve here may be the eradication of this cancer," Long said. "How many complaints were not heard? I've got to make sure we have a safe working environment for our employees."

Long said the problems extend beyond Coleman. The investigation is "not going to stop with him," he said

Federal Employees brought in as political appointees can be dispatched. The latter day civil servants can’t.

On the local CBS news here in DC, the report was amazing. There was no word about how he’s been in charge since Obama’s first term, but they mentioned twice that the first investigated complaint was in 2017.

Also:

"Prior to joining FEMA in 2011, Coleman worked in the human resources departments of the Secret Service, federal Department of Transportation, and Federal Highway Administration."
