Russia’s ambassador to Israel said in an interview Monday his country cannot force Iranian forces to withdraw from Syria, despite Israeli calls for Iran to withdraw from the country.

Speaking with Channel 10 news, Anatoly Viktorov said the Iranians are “playing a very, very important role in our common and joint efforts to eliminate terrorists in Syria.

Viktorov said Russia can talk to its “Iranian friends” about a full withdrawal from Syria, as Israel demands, but “we cannot force them.”

“The Iranian presence in Syria… is fully legitimate according to the UN principles and the UN charter,” he added.

He also did not confirm Israeli officials’ statement to the effect that Moscow offered to keep Iran at a distance of 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the border, though he implied that Russia will not oppose continued Israeli airstrikes on Iranian bases in the country

Can they keep them from 100 KM of that border, I figured, Iran would not leave Syria. Pretty obvious to begin with.

It’s a lot more complex than this
Iranians/shia/local tribes and militia are socially and culturally entwined in Syria, not just militarily

As long as that border area also remains free of ISIS / Al Qaeda orcs, that should be possible.

Apparently Iran is stronger than Russia. How the mighty have fallen.

Russian co-signed the Iran deal. It also is building nuclear reactors in Iran—four of them.

Looks like Assad’s forces cleared out the last of ISIS along the Golan Heights last night.

Iran has a land bridge across Iraq to Assad’s territory in Syria. Israel is likely to attack the border crossing bases Iran is building.

Iran is not leaving Syria. Assad and his Alawites are a sect of the Iranian shiites.

Russia only has so much influence over Iran and is very pleased to have their naval base at Tartus and elsewhere.

Iran and Hezbollah will be dealt with by Israel.

There are diplomatic moves being made now by the Russian envoy to reconcile/merge Hamas and the PLO and then begin to negotiate a solution to the Palestinian territories.

So everyone is tiptoing right now.

Lol. No as strong as Qatar. The tiny country is sponsoring a high profile anti-Israel propaganda machine Al Jezeera, even though America has a military base in its territory.

[ Russian ambassador to Israel: We can’t force Iran to leave Syria ]

And that day continues to approach....

(for the thread since the ping list already knows this):

Ezekiel 38 is going to happen one of these days. Prophesied about 2,600 years ago. It’s for the Latter Days (v. 16) and the Latter Years (v. 8) (KJV).
