Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Wednesday celebrated his recent discovery that he has Jewish ancestry.
“Guess I need to start saying ‘L’Chaim’ now, too!” Ryan tweeted, along with a gif of him toasting with a glass of Guinness.
The clip was from a toast Ryan gave during an annual Friends of Ireland luncheon, using the Irish toast “sláinte.”
Ryan discovered his Jewish heritage during an upcoming episode of the PBS show “Finding Your Roots.”
Host Henry Louis Gates Jr. told Ryan during the show that about 3 percent of his DNA is Ashkenazi Jewish, and that he traced the ancestry back to 1531.
"You could have knocked him over with a feather and then he was very proud of it," Gates told the Associated Press about Ryan’s response. “We don't know who that Jewish person was, but we know it was on his mother's German line, which makes sense. So somebody who was a Christian German slept with a Jewish German person and that's where that came from.”
Maybe he'll be linked to an unsolved crime.

That would mean a great-great-great grandparent was Jewish, going back five generations. most people have a little bit of something surprising in their DNA if you go back that far.

As far as I’m concerned, Ryan is a disgrace to the race! I wonder if the way-back Jew voluntarily slept with someone who was not a Jew, or if it was coerced, considering the history of pogroms in Europe going back more than a thousand years.
How far back do you have to go to get 3%?

On my family tree there is one ms Sophie Jacobi, one of my thirty-two 4th great grandmothers. Not sure but I suspect I may be about 1.5% Ashkenazi. This could explain why I enjoy singing that “have a tequila” song at Jewish weddings.
As an “American Jew”, Ryan is no longer a RINO, he’s now officially a Democrat.
He, or a relative, would have to upload results to the free site, “Gedmatch,” for that to happen.
I wonder which company gave him 3% Ashkenazi Jewish? 23andMe is the most trustworthy in AJ results. The other companies gave me too much AJ, but it was not correct.
