US President Barack Obama has said failing to prepare for the aftermath of the ousting of Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi was the worst mistake of his presidency.
Mr Obama was answering a series of questions on the highs and lows of his time in office on Fox News.
He said, however, that intervening in Libya had been "the right thing to do".
The US and other countries carried out strikes designed to protect civilians during the 2011 uprising.
But after the former Libyan leader was killed, Libya plunged into chaos with militias taking over and two rival parliaments and governments forming.
So-called Islamic State (IS) gained a foothold, and Libya became a major departure point for migrants trying to reach Europe.
A UN-backed national unity government arrived in the capital Tripoli earlier this month but is waiting to take charge.
The leader of the faction ruling western Libya has threatened to prosecute any of his ministers who co-operate with the UN-backed administration, contradicting an earlier announcement the ministers would stand down.

Lost strategic ground to Russia, China, North Korea and Iran.
Lost US credibility with all allies.
Lost US Superpower status and deterrent.
Led “from behind” with “Soft power”.
Created serious, Domestic racial divide.
Fueled radical organizations like BLM.
Degraded US Law enforcement effectiveness and did not support Law and Police officials.
Signed a Munich style capitulation agreement with Iran.
Let Iran & Russia humiliate US forces.
Lost Libya, Ukraine, Syria, China Sea, etc.
Appointed nincompoop Secretaries of State.
Won the Nobel Peace Prize for...nobody knows.
The list goes on and on unfortunately.

I would have thought that leaving four Americans to die in a make-shift embassy, with no real security, while trying to deal with a bad situation that you created, would have been considered the worst mistake of your presidency.
Any “mistakes” made during this ass’s (p)residency were made by Valerie Jarrett. This fool was controlled by her, and if he denies it, he’s a liar.
His worse mistake was mismanaging the military and choosing subordinates who actively worked to dismantle its excellence.

His direct actions in league with Hillary Clinton is what made Libya the disaster it is today that is anti American. Khadiffy had caputulated to the West two years prior and was no longer a problem. He voluntarily turned over his covert nuclear program to the West. Libya at this point was not a problem though ruled by a despot. Obama and Clinton blew this up as they did in Syria. Why in the hell did we attack Kaddify whom was at this point not a threat but a defacto ally?
One must never forget that the beginning of the Syrian Civil War it was with the 100% backing of Obama, Clinton and that damned John McCain. They have much blood on their hands.
Syria was zero threat to us and credible but minor threat to Israel that could take her out in a brief moment dependent if conventional or nuclear.
Obama, Clinton, and McCain blew up the Middle East, but in all fairness Bush II should be included. When Bush II took out the despot Sadam he in his total idiocy assumed he could instill democracy in a Muslim State. Bush was an idiot and layed the seeds for Al-Queda to thrive in the Mid East.
Democracy will never work in a strict Muslim nation as the tenets of the Muslim religion forbid the democratic rule of the people and only theocratic rule is acceptable.
His entire presidency was the worst mistake of his presidency.
Your list of Obama failures would make him seem an idiot. Obama is not an idiot. He is a socialist if not Marxists and all his failures were actually great victories for a socialist Marxist that has zero belief in our constitution.
His presidency was one long mistake, but there’s plenty of blame to spread around for that disaster.
