The XXII Amendment to the Constitution says, in part, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."
Notice what this Amendment prohibits: "No person shall be elected to the office of the President". It says it twice.
Notice also what the Amendment does not say: "Any person having served blah, blah, blah shall be ineligible to the office of the President".
If the Democrats take the House and elect Obama as Speaker, and then manage to remove the President and Vice President (by whatever means), would Obama's succession to the Presidency happen by him "being elected to the office?"
I don't think so.
The Amendment only prohibits a third term that happens as a result of an election (which, BTW, is not in the Constitution to begin with).

As I’ve said before, Obama is too lazy to go back into political office.
But to your question, I think the mechanism you identified has been considered by many as a way to extend the time in office. Interesting that the authors of the amendment, who no doubt had plenty of time to choose words carefully, did not use the word "eligible" which is used to define the qualifications for holding office.
My takeaway: An amendment will be needed for Trump to serve his 3rd and 4th terms...

Without re-reading it, I think it says they cannot be elected more than twice and cannot serve for more than ten years.
The point is moot. If the Dems did that there would probably be a shut down of government.
The other reason it is moot is that you would never convict them both in the Senate.
Two terms is max....no matter what the circumstances. There is no loophole.

I’d be more worried about the damage he could cause as “speaker”, and not so much of him ever becoming “president’. Both the Potus and the VPotus would have to go away at the same time for that to happen.

Not at all. The restriction is only on being elected President.
In 2024 Mike Pence can run for President with Donald Trump as his running mate. Then immediately after being sworn in, Pence resigns and we have 4 more glorious years of Trump.
