Well, that escalated quickly.
The rise of “democratic socialism” has been one of the key developments in the Democratic Party in recent years, first with the popularity of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and more recently Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s primary win over party mainstay Rep. Joe Crowley in New York.
One of the ways the movement is presented is with the claim that this is not your grandfather’s socialism -- or the socialism of the former Soviet Union, Venezuela or other failed states. It’s more “Scandinavian health care” than overthrowing the bourgeoisie.
But now a democratic socialist writer is leveling with voters, telling them that actually, yes, they want to topple capitalism.
"I’m a staff writer at the socialist magazine Jacobin and a member of [the Democratic Socialists of America], and here’s the truth: In the long run, democratic socialists want to end capitalism.
In an article for Vox, Meagan Day, a writer for the socialist magazine Jacobin and a democratic socialist, says the goal is to pursue a “reform agenda today in an effort to revive a politics focused on class hierarchy and inequality in the United States.”
“The eventual goal is to transform the world to promote everyone’s needs rather than to produce massive profits for a small handful of citizens,” she says.
Day goes on to reject the idea that democratic socialism is just a modern form of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal, as some have suggested.
“But we also want more than FDR did. A robust welfare state in an economy that’s still organized around capitalists’ profits can mitigate the worst inequalities for a while, but it’s at best a temporary truce between bosses and workers — and one that the former will look to scrap as soon as they can,” she argues.

The Russians did indeed meddle in American society and politics — albeit from approx. 1919, with the founding of the Comintern, until 1990.
They infected us with their own parasitic notion of Marxism, class warfare and hatred in their attempts to bring down the West. These parasites have now grown to full adulthood in the media, entertainment and education and government organs of our society.
Id love to see these Commies who love Communism SO much, open up their wallets and empty them, for the common good of course

Do you work in healthcare? Are you a nurse, a doctor, a specialist, or a skilled surgeon? Your skills and efforts in caring for people now belong to the State; the State will decide how much money you can make (as well as decide which patients receive your care.)
Are you an engineer? Do you design things: new medical devices, air conditioning units, automobile engines, aircraft, or petroleum refineries? Your work will now belong to the State, and the State will decide what you will work on, and they'll decide what you will get paid.
Do you work in software development? Do you design apps for smartphones, program and implement databases, or write telecommunications' software? You will now work on projects the State deems important. You will get paid as much as a janitor, a convenience store clerk, or a landscaper.
I could go on. I cannot believe that this kind of talk is even gaining traction.

The media made the dems blue and the pubbies red after it was realized the dems were aligned with communism. The bumper sticker “Better Dead Than Red” was also quite popular back in the day when the dems were red and the pubbies were blue.
The reds in the dem party knew this would be used against them at some point so they changed it.
Funny thing; the dems are still communist red. Zebras don’t change their stripes because some media says it.

Putting your money where your mouth is? Isn’t that kind of, well, RISKY?
That is the whole point. If an idea is a bad idea, almost certainly throwing all your money behind that effort to make the scheme a reality, will result in total penury and consign the misguided individual to a life of poverty and perpetual obscurity.
This will not end well.
Capitalist America has underwritten and subsidized the more socialistic governments in Europe and around the world and American economic power has been critical to the ongoing viability of those socialist governments
The decline of American Economic power stressing the socialist economies and contributing to the exposure of their systemic economic problems
If the United States were to convert to a socialistic system, the rest of the socialistic governments that the United States currently props up would probably collapse.
They're starting to openly admit it. I head a left-wing radio show open with the slogan "More guns won't save our country. Taking guns will."
It’s stealth communism, as astute observers have noted all along.
They hope to gain power slowly, incrementally, so that by the time the masses notice what is going on, it is too late for them to put up any resistance.
As George Orwell wrote in the 1930s: “ “Every intelligent boy of sixteen is a Socialist. At that age one does not see the hook sticking out of the rather stodgy bait.”
I think the current push for “democratic socialism” simply illustrates the mental age of the advocates. As Abraham Lincoln said: “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.” Hopefully there are enough of us in that last category to stop this insanity.
