John McCain passes the torch at the International Republican Institute
The Washington Post ^ | August 3, 2018 | Josh Rogin

Posted on 08/04/2018 8:31:52 AM PDT by Trump20162020

For the first time in 25 years, the International Republican Institute will have a new leader. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who is battling brain cancer, has decided to step down from his role as chairman of the board of the organization, which for decades he has helped to fight for democracy, freedom, civil society, the rule of law and human rights around the world.

McCain’s handoff to IRI’s next chairman, Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), is not a signal that McCain’s health is declining. In fact, several McCain associates say his condition hasn’t changed in recent months and he remains actively involved in his Senate work from his home near Sedona, Ariz. But McCain felt an obligation to help usher in an orderly transition at IRI, to ensure the long-term health and strength of the organization.

McCain recommended Sullivan to succeed him as chairman and his former foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann to replace former congressman Jim Kolbe (R-Ariz.) as vice chairman in a July 24 letter to the board. New board members will also include Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (R), who is expected to be elected the next junior senator from Utah in November.

Public appearance, or it’s fake news.

Has McCain been seen in public since he left Washington last December?

I want to be sensitive about his health, but, is he still ambulatory and functional?

Why is it, that every so often, we get press releases from him on various subjects, but we never see him in public?

And why has he been absent from the Senate so long?

Supposedly he has “signaled” he likes Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, but will he actually be there to vote on that nomination????

Right. Just like Woodrow Wilson was fine while he was recovering from his stroke behind closed doors. "Just leave the papers with his wife and she'll go in and discuss his intentions and obtain the necessary signatures and provide the needed instruction to the cabinet. His writing may look a bit different due to the effects of the stroke, pay no mind to that." Same idea.

If McPain IS the hero he is claimed to be he would do more under his circumstances for that legacy. That stated McPain is only furthering the deterioration of that which should have been his legacy.

The sooner the better.

I’m beginning to think it’s possible that McCain is not dying, but hiding.

Worthless t*rd when born.
Worthless t*rd and stupid non-achiever at Annapolis.
Worthless t*rd, stupid, non-achiever, and not a very good pilot in the Navy.
Totally worthless t*rd, stupid, non-achiever, and back stabbing SOB in the Senate (which did not make him much different than many others there).
Notice a trend?
He (or, more properly, it) will not be missed.

"...he has helped to fight for democracy, freedom, civil society, the rule of law and human rights around the world. ..."

I don't think so.

McLame is certainly not about Democracy as he wants a fam member appointed in his place.

McJuan is not about freedom as in Personal Liberty (see his vote to continue Bronco's Health Care)

McWon has never supported jailing H->!.

By all human rights we should not have to suffer Meghan.

I don’t want to be sensitive about his health. If he’s well enough to settle scores and denounce the President, he should be well enough to come to Washington and do the job he’s being paid to do. If he’s not well enough, then he should shut up and retire.

He is planning on being around at least five more years, just like SCOTUS Justice Ginsburg.

What exactly has the IRI done in the past 20 years of a useful nature? Weren’t they tied up into regime-building in the Middle East and part of the Ukraine episode?

Well, there you have it, a list of the McCain cabal, throw them all out of office at the very first opportunity or just don’t elect them in the first place, in the instance of Mitt Romney.
